Does Parent Swap work if your child chickens out at the last minute?

I am trying to understand how the parent swap works. I have a DS 13 who wants to ride everything. I also have a DD 8 who gets "spooked" very easily. She says she wants to ride everything, but what happens if she gets to the loading bay and chickens out? :sad2:

Since she is 8 and 48 inches tall, she will meet the height requirements, will they let us swap? She doesn't meet the requirements for a "baby" swap. Will they let DS ride again with me?

Also, how does the Fast Pass system play into this equation? Do they work together or is it an "either/or" option?

Please help me sort through this.

Well, the baby swap is really for children who do not meet the height requirements. Most rides give a special baby swap Fastpass...but since your child is tall enough to ride and you are talking about last minute chickening out, it would be different anyway.

I would just ask the CM at the ride if there's anything they could do for you.

This happened to me when I went to Disney with my 2 girls ages 6 and 9 and DH stayed home. She said she'd do Space Mountain but then when we got to the loading area, she chickened out so I just sent my older DD alone because I didn't have another parent to swap with. The CM asked me to wait at the exit.

I think it would depending on the CM and the ride but just ask if this happens if there's anything they could do for you.

A few years ago my DS decided at the very last minute Dinasour was not for him. We walked right through the car and out the other side. My DH and DD went for the ride, then when they got back, the CM let me get in with my DD and do the ride. I am sure it is not a problem, you waited in line.

Yes...this seems to be the policy. If the child meets height requirements, they must stay in line with you. The first parent gets on the ride as the other parent waits (usually on the unloading side, like where the wheel chair riders wait.) Then when the get off the other parent rides. By the way, this is how all baby swap for Star Tours is, even for small children under the height requirement.

How do the Fast Passes work into this?

Do I get a Fast Pass for everyone, and then if she backs out at the last minute, talk to the CM at the loading area?

Then what do we do with her FP?

I am sorry to ask so many questions, but the last time we went they didn't have the FP system. DS was only 4 and DD didn't exist yet. :rotfl:

I just don't know how she is going to react to the rides. :confused3

Thanks for all your help. :thumbsup2 Y'all are the greatest. :cool1:

Can someone help me with the FP question? I am trying to figure this out before I go. Maybe that isn't possible. You may have to just "experience" it to understand. :confused3

I

If she backs out at the actual ride vehicle, you'll have already handed he FP in.

If she backs out before you get in line you can either give her FP away, or one of you can use it to ride again, or you can toss it.
