I've been researching them on the internet, and they seem like a great company. Just curious if anyone has worked for them. If so, are/were you happy there? Thanks!!

I have a friend and many acquaintenances who work for them.
It is is good company to work for.

Thanks, WDW! That's GREAT to hear. :)

Anyone else? ;)

I tried sending you a PM, Jen. Your mailbox is full! :(

I'll send you a link if you make room. :)

I don't work for them, but they have a major manufacturing facility here in St. Augustine.

They build E-2's here, and do all of the major overhauls & mods to the F-14's & EA-6's.

They are the largest single employer in the county, & all who work there seem to be happy.

They are also a pretty good "corporate neighbor" to the community, sponsoring & volunteering in many community events.

I am a subcontractor to Northrop Grumman; i.e., I don't work directly for Northrop Grumman but I work in their spaces, with their employees, etc. As with any company, there are good and bad things. A lot of the NG employees I work with complain but I think that has more to do with immediate management. Which particular section of NG are you looking at?

I worked for Northrop Grumman for 13 years on the B-2 Stealth Bomber in Palmdale, CA, they are a great company. Benefits are great, I loved it.

No, but my grandfather's company makes airplane parts and sells them to Grumman.

I haven't heard him complaining about them, so I'll take that as a good sign ;)

<font color=navy>I work as a Facilities Planner for Northrop Grumman @ the El Segundo Plant. I've been there for 18-1/2 years now, and I think it's a great company to work for.

I've worked my way through the Facilities organization, and know people we have working @ St. Augustine, Melbourne, Bethpage, Rancho Bernardo, & Palmdale, of course, as well as some other places. :) I work for Integrated Systems and we deal with everyone Sector-wide - through the US.

It's good to hear such good things about this company from everyone. :) I'm looking to relocate to Newport News and know they are the largest employer in the area. It seemed like they would be a great company to work for. :)

DH is in the Navy, and is currently working with them on a new ship being built down here. He says everyone he has come in contact with likes working for the company, and is usually in a good mood. (Though he mostly works with the computer/communications people, since that's what he works on on the ship.)

I work for the Navy and used to be the production manager for the E-2C, so I spent lots of time in St. Augustine (Jim B., it's a great place!) I also spent lots of time in their Bethpage NY facility and have a good friend who left Pax River to move up there and work for them.

The Newport News facility was acquired when NG bought Litton. I don't know much specifically about that division.

Overall, I think NG is a great company to work with. They are very committed to their product. Given who the customer is, (our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines) I think that's the most important thing. Good luck with your decision.

Sounds great, FonFon. I worked for a hospital here in South FL for 8 years. And it's been many years since I've seen a happy face on the employees. :(

Thanks, Lisa. Good to hear a little background of NPN facility. It's definitely a company you can be proud of when you think of who the customer is. :teeth:

My last job in NJ before I moved to FL was for a company that did guidance and navigation systems for military aircraft. I LOVED that company and was sorry to leave! I'd like to get back to a similar company. This one sounds great!! :teeth: :Pinkbounc

I have had administrative type positions for 17 years, and the following is foreign to me...which they are looking for in an office assistant!

"accreditation in domestic and international travel operations"

Hmmm...I wonder what it is specifically and how you go about being accredited in it! :earseek: Might actually be interesting.

I worked for Northrop briefly in the early 1980's at the Hawthorne location (wind tunnel) and at Pico Rivera (B-2). This was before the merger with Grumman. Northrop was one of the better places that I worked in my career as an engineer. My only complaint wasn't with Northrop, but with the fact that I was working on a "black" project. The amount of security along with all the rules and regulations made for an interesting work environment. That, coupled with the fact that I was hired before there was any real work to do led to my departure from Northrop and a return to my roots in NE Ohio.

It turns out that many years later, another engineer from the B-2 flight controls group was hired by Picker/Marconi/Philips to head the Medical Imaging business unit. Another example of "Small World" syndrome.

They want someone who is a travel agent?

Northrop Grumman is our biggest tenant, and also one of our best tenants. I enjoy working with NG employees.

And yes they are looking for a travel agent since NG does most (if not all) of its own travel arrangements in house.
