Does One Counter Service Have To Be Used At Breakfast?

We have a split stay in Dec/Jan and will be getting the basic dining plan for the first part of our trip and thinking about quick service for the second part. Can someone please tell us if there is the requirement that one counter service must be used at breakfast? We usually just have a bowl of cereal at our resort and prefer to eat lunch around 11:30 and then dinner later on. If they make you use one for breakfast then it wouldn't be worth it for us because we would only have one more counter service left to last until the end of the day. We would still need to buy another meal? Am I totally wrong about how this counter service plan works?

You can use any of your credits for any meal you want on any day of your vacation that you want. You are not required to use them for specific meals on specific days.

The way it works is that you are allotted 2 CS meal credits and one snack credit per person for each night you stay at your resort. When you check in you get all of these credits in your account at once, in a "lump sum." It is then entirely up to you to decide when to use them.

The credits issued are based on your length of stay, how you use them is your choice.

If you're on CS plan only, you can eat any CS you want , where and when!

Same applies for TS/CS plan.
You could go to a TS character breakfast and then to Lecellier for dinner all in one day using 3 TS credits.

You could choose to eat at 2 counter services and have 3 snacks all in one day, too.

Everytime you get your receipt back, the total # of credits will show.

The more persons on the plan, the harder it could be to keep track of. IMHO, it's a piece of cake. ENJOY!!

Thank you for clarifying this! On this upcoming trip we decided to try a couple of DVC resorts (OKW and AK) through David's Vacation Club Rentals. His web site indicates that one counter service must be used for breakfast and that is why I questioned this. I even e-mailed them and they answered back saying same. I will have to e-mail them to let them know that they need to correct this info on their site.

I cannot find anywhere on that site that says you have to use a credit for breakfast. They simply list what you get for breakfast if you use it - maybe you saw it somewhere I did not see, but I think you just misunderstood. This is the info I saw (and it is directly from the Disney dining page too):

The way it is presented on their website made me wonder whether one counter service had to be used for a breakfast meal. I then emailed them for confirmation and this was their reply on August 14, 2012:

"Yes you would be required to use one quick service credit for breakfast. Here is a link to Disney’s Dining Plan brochure that might explain how the quick service plan works.

There is nothing on the Disneyworld site that says it has be used for breakfast so I went to the best place I knew to get final clarity ... disboards.

May want to strip out the person information regarding that email ;) (while usually it relates to WDW guest email that has actual direct contact to either guest relations CMs or higher ups, it's probably good practice in general), but I can see how it can be confusing (even to their own people apparently!)

It's just listed like it is because the entitlements at the meals differ for breakfast (no dessert).

They're also wrong in that they list 2 drinks (juice plus another drink) for breakfast, which is no longer the case and hasn't been for over a year now.

you can use CS and TS when ever you want to all in one day or spread them out. you do not have to use CS just for breakfast may want to use a TS and go to a character breakfast and use the CS for dinner or use 2 TS and go to a signature say at Cinderellas Royal tabel and then use CS for another meal. or you can use fice CS in one day it is up to you haow you spend/use them.

You're absolutely right...the name of the individual who replied to that e-mail has been removed. Thanks!

By the way, they're totally incorrect if this company says that meal credits MUST be used for breakfast.

As Cafeen noted, in the listing on the brochure they are trying to point out that the entitlements for breakfast are not the same as the entitlements for lunch and dinner (breakfast does not include dessert), not that you have to eat breakfast.
