Does O'hana really have a 45 minute wait?

I made a reservation for Friday 10/11 at O'hana at 5 pm. Then I read on another thread that it has a 45 minute wait, even with an ADR. Is this true? If so, I am going to try to make my reservation earlier as I don't want to eat that much later. Thanks!

I believe that 5:00 pm is opening time or right after opening so I don't think that you'll have a wait. We've eaten there at all different times and have never had a 45 minute wait. I know that others have different experiences but for us, it's never been more than 10-15 minutes at the most.

You'll be there at opening so you won't have a 45 minute wait unless something completely unexpected happened and it can't open on time. I think the 45 minute wait can occur later in the evening if it's very busy or people aren't leaving in a timely fashion.

Nothing is true across the board when it comes to waiting times for ADRs. There are so many factors to consider on any given night that could cause a wait like that. We had 8pm ADRs once and were seated 10 minutes. I think you'll be just fine.

Just my experience... I think we had a 6:55pm reservation. Waited 15 minutes in a very long check-in line, then about 20 to be seated. It was VERY much worth it!

We had an adr for around 9pm during our December trip. All in all we waited 45+ minutes to be seated. We are going again in May, crossing my fingers that it wont be a 45 minute wait.

As others have mentioned, you have an ADR close to restaurant opening time so you shouldn't have to wait very long. Our 'Ohana ADR was for 5:15 and we waited a whopping five minutes (after checking in early). You should be just fine! :thumbsup2

The big waits can come up with later dining times - they can't seat a new table if the existing group is still there. Therefore, if people linger longer than their reservation system thinks they will, it will back up a bit.

If people dawdle is can become a long wait. I always tell my kids to not fool around, we don't rush but do not sit around chatting after dinner. I want to allow another family to not have to wait so long.

We have had a 45 minute wait at O'hana's before. We arrived 20 mins early so we seated 25 mins after our scheduled time. This was for breakfast.

There's no way of knowing what your wait is going to be until you get there, but I don't think you can generally get a dinner reservation there any earlier than 5. At any rate if it's the earliest time for a reservation, you can hit the restaurant right when it's opening so you're not waiting for other guests to leave. That's usually what causes the long waits - guests who were seated previously lingering in the restaurant.

I have seen the line before it opens stretch all the way from ohana to the sushi station. So those that arrived AT 5 for a 5 adr were late by the time they got to the podium. took 15-20 minutes or so

then had to wait to be seated. So at opening, it is very possible to wait 30 minutes or so (many people without adrs are encouraged to arrive before they open to try to get a table)

Many love ohana, I won't go if it was a free meal. Fortuantely, YMMV :thumbsup2

Yes, the line to check in gets really long, especially at opening. You may want to get there earlier than 5.

They do now have two lines, one for guests with reservations and one for guests without reservations.

We had a 5:15 ADR. We arrived at 4:30 and waited in line to be checked in, then we waited until they opened, then we waited until they sat people, one or two groups at a time. We didn't sit down until 5:30. They do start throwing food at you pretty quickly once you sit down though.

We won't be returning to 'Ohana, it was just ok to me, not worth the hype. My DD was asking to leave by 6:00. Luckily we were on the DDP and I didn't have to think about how much it cost me, LOL.

We went in July 2011 and we didn't wait at all. We had a 6:30 ADR and the kids barely had time to watch the tv before they were calling us in. And as a pp noted, they started serving the food immediately.

We're all set to go back in October...can't wait!!!!! :cool1:

We were there last week with a 4:40 ADR. We got seated within 5 minutes. We really enjoyed our meal.

We always have to wait 30-45 minutes here. It's part of the "experience." lol

We usually have to wait 30-45 minutes when we go - neither opening nor close, just in the middle. Luckily, they have that nice tiki bar right there..! :goodvibes

Every time we eat there, we check in about 10 minutes before our ADR time and we've never waited less than 30 minutes for our table. It's worth it though :)

I think it just depends. Both times we have dined there for dinner we had 6:30 pm reservations. The first time, in late July, we had no more than a 5 minute wait. Second time, during Spring Break in mid March, we waited around 45 minutes. Perfect excuse to sit at the bar and have a Lapu Lapu!

You will be seated right away with a 5:00pm reservation. That is when they open and they seat everyone right away. We had a 5:15pm reservation in February and they seated us at 5:05pm.
