Does loud gum chewing annoy you too?

At a meeting awhile back, I had the "pleasure" of sitting beside someone who is VERY hyper, so much so that he sat bouncing in his seat chewing rather LOUDLY on his dang gum!!!! I sat there just wanting to either smack him or wanting him to choke on that gum that he was smacking down on! Then the other day, a customer came into the store, and he was chewing LOUDLY! UGH, don't people REALIZE what they are doing to those around them?

So, does this annoy anyone else?

Yep, drives me crazy too. Worse when it is someone serving the public. I've even had a flight attendant that did that. Ugh!

I can't stand it! I also hate it when you can see the gum in someone else's mouth. That gives be an immediate gag reaction.

Yup, and I hate people that chew their food like a horse. I had the pleasure of having my desk in my dorm room next to the roommate who snapped gum, chewed gum loudly, and chewed food like a horse, until last Friday Thankfully the room got moved a bit.

well...personally, I rather be a loud gum chewer..then be a stinky smoker like I used to be.

no offense to smokers (like I said, I was one)...but I never realized how much I STANK until I quit smoking.

I tried to keep my gum cheweing quiet...but I agree...some people don't know how to be "discreet" about it)

I have sensative ears so yes this annoys the carp outta me. Also I hate loud eaters and ice chewers too. My aunt is a LOUD eater, you can't say anything or she's just louder. My grandfather eats with his mouth open smacking all his food, but he just thinks it is funny. I try to ignore all I can, but sometimes I just wanna yell SHUT UP!

We have a horse chewer, coffee slurper here. He drives me nuts. Will pick up the phone to talk to someone and start chewing on something. How RUDE!! He's always eating at his desk and it drives us nuts.

That is why I don't chew gum anywhere but home. I chew with my mouth closed but it is still loud, and I have tried chewing quieter but I can't.

Hello my name is Anna and sometimes I’m a loud gum chewer. Sometimes when I chew gum I get so involved in what I’m doing like, working, reading, thinking, and chewing that I forget myself and start popping it and chewing it loudly. I usually get reminded of what I’m doing by others around me and I tri and stop it but wouldn’t you know it as soon as I’m immersed in what I was doing before I do it again. SO from now on I try to chew gum in the car or at home only so this way I only frustrate the people I love.

Agree with all of the above....loud gum chewing and "open mouth" eating at the dinner table are probably my two biggest pet peeves. C'mon folks, keep your trap shut!!

The loud gum chewing annoys me to no end. In Language Arts, some guy sits behind me and then a friend of mine sits behind him. This guy chews his gum so loudly. It is horrible. He sounds like a cow. In the middle of class, my friend will call my name and be like "the cow is back", or she'll impersonate him chewing. I hate it. And he does this the WHOLE class period. We were watching a movie one day and he was chewing SO loudly. I just wanted to turn around and take the gum right out of his mouth. LOL. My brother and dad do the same thing. GGAAAAHHHHH. I hate that. LOL.

This thread disgusts me, if someone doesn't have any teeth and chooses to rub and attempt to chew on their own gums, we should have the common decency not to complain!
