Does it ever surprise you when people...

But there's a difference between complaining about something as just "something that you have to deal with" and complaining about something as "the most horrible part of a WDW vacation". If everyone kept the negative stuff in perspective -- as they relate to an overall vacation experience -- that would be helpful to newbies. Overstating how horrible something is or how annoying something was doesn't help any more than overstating how magical something was or how amazing every single second was.
:earsboy:

Very true. As for the part that I bolded, I usually read the former ones as a form of amusement, because they're usually so bat crap crazy. The latter ones I skip because they're so eye rolling over the top.

I agree. Besides, there have been a few times I have been in the regular queue for Space Mountain (past the video games, in the main part) and have let out a "MOO". No big deal.

Haha... I did that leaving the stretching room of Haunted Mansion. Why? Because it reminded me of a cattle ranch. You go from a pen into a chute that gets more and more narrow. It is what it is. I thought it was funny at the time when I had the mental image!

I read a lot of posts here for amusement but it seems like when I am at WDW they never enter my mind. It almost seems like a whole other place from what I had been reading. That's one reason I tend not to read or post much when I am there.

We do it too.I'm the one that referref to the queue as herding cattle in the other post. That's what it feels like. If you're ever on a long slow moving line, let out a moo and everyone laughs. It's not a bad thing.

I agree with those who think the lines are like herding cattle, it does kind of feel that way, but I don't think it's a bad thing. It just an efficient way of "moo-ving" everyone along through the line faster! ;)

As far as screaming kids, I'll just be thankful they're not mine! :)

The only thing I'm starting to get a bit concerned about is the "love bug" issue. I've heard they're starting to get bad in Florida. Are they really as annoying as some people say they are? :scared:

Ok stepping onto my soapbox
I have noticed that over the years the negativity and snarky attitudes that are part of the outside world have crept into the DIS boards, this is my second user name (goofydad621) been on the boards from almos the beginning and I have noticed more and more that more people are angry here, and some just borderline mean. I think contributes to the negative posts about my (Happiest place on earth). Some just never happy or can get enough pixie dust and being angry or negative is just a way of life for them.
For the rest relax enjoy and know what WDW really has to offer.

okay off my soapbox

There were other things I saw at other times. But really I saw those in about ten mins lol. Thankfully my resolve is stronger than the posts and no one could deter me from going to my happy place...(except maybe my bank account). Lol

Refer to some of the things that go on in Disney. I swear if I had not been before I found the dis I probably wouldn't go. I just saw in ten minutes of reading threads, someone refer to the line cues as "hearding cattle". Someone else talk about inconsiderate parents who let there child scream. And the evc and stroller maniacs that run you over. Boy we really make it sound like the happiest place on earth.

IDK, for some reason people here always attack anyone that is the least bit critical of anything at DW. The fact is that there are a lot of issues/problems and a poster shouldn't have to fear the vengeful Disney apologists to state his or her opinion.

The first time I went as an adult with my own family I was really overwhelmed. We sort of planned it last minute and it was in August and super hot all day, every day. My daughter was 2 at the time and we went for just a few days really to test it out and see how she would like it before we returned for a whole week. I had read on the boards here and knew some tricks but I didnt really execute everything very well and as a result it was a little stressful. I think my husband and I were ready to kill each other after those few days. Our next trip i planned more and really took advantage of getting to the parks before opening and utilizing the FP more efficiently and we had a much more enjoyable trip. It was in May so it wasnt as crowded and not as hot but it still helped having a plan for each day.

I think that when a lot of people go the first few times, it can be more stressful than enjoyable because the experience is so overwhelming. Kids and adults can have trouble adapting to that.

On our recent trip I had a mental picture of everyone dressed up as cows for MNSSHP and herding, I mean heading out of the stretching room :rotfl:

Yep. Some people you could shower in pixie dust all day long and it wouldn't make any difference to their attitude. It's harder to recognize these people on a message board. But once you do, the best thing to do is just walk (or click) away. You're never going to change their opinion of life. ;)

I've been most surprised at people complaining about the new magic bands and FP+. I've seen alot of people say they weren't ever going back and Disney was gonna lose their business. Like it was a big deal. I wanted to say no ones making you go! Stay home if you don't like it. That just leaves more room for the people who love it! Haha

I work in a long term care facility for seniors in the Dietary department. Some of those folks complain about the slightest thing...there's too much food on the plate, not enough potatoes, not hot enough, too hot, dessert portion is too small, food to bland, food too spicy. I could go on.

My point is I work in a service industry. Disney is a service provider, different industry, but non the less, a service industry. And you are going to get those people who complain about any little detail, however minute. To you or I it might seem ridiculous, but to them it is important, why? Only they know.

So no I am not the least bit surprised when people complain about Disney stuff. I have stopped trying to understand the "why" of it and just kind of figure it takes all kinds and leave it at that.

Besides, as pps have stated, the less people enraptured with Disney, the less crowded it will be for those of us who are pixiedust:

No matter where you go or what you do some people are going to complain about stuff.

You could plan a prefect day for someone with all there favorite things and at the end of it they'd still complain saying it wasn't long enough!

And again, this is nothing new and is pretty much seen on any message board.
Unless the moderators are forward-thinking and lock out users from starting their own threads. Afterall, why do you need to start yet another thread about MNSSHP when there's an official thread right on the first page? :confused3

My sister works at POP and she said the other day that they had a woman come in who was irate and demanded to move to another hotel at no cost because there were.. (get this)... TO MANY KIDS! I mean come on you are at DISNEY for crying out loud, this place is made for kids (and adults who are still kids :wave2: ). I guess she even had two of her own!

Be prepared for lines, and heat and screaming kids and crazies with strollers. It is all part of the magic and if you cant handle that. Stay home!!!

I personally cannot wait!!! only 41 more day!!!pixiedust:

Stuff happens. I go to WDW a lot. I've been herded like cattle, run into by strollers, shoved out of the way for parades, waited for ECVs to be loaded onto a bus (I do NOT have a problem with that), had my view blocked by Ipads, sat in a restaurant next to a screaming kid, been cut in front of in line, been blinded by flash photography in dark rides and stuck in crowds (just used the "moo" joke walking into Fantasmic about 2 weeks ago and it'll be another several years before I see Fantasmic again, if that). It's par for the course in a public place that happens to draw a lot of people. Not everyone is polite and this stuff is going to happen. It doesn't happen every minute of every day, but it's probably going to happen at least once to anyone who spends any time at WDW.

Not much sense worrying about it too much.

I actually have seen very few who say they are never returning to WDW because of the magic bands and Fastpass Plus, but I see many more who say they are going to give it a rest and wait till it all shakes out because they don't feel like trusting their vacation to being "guinea pigs" for a new system. Others are positively excited to try out the new system and don't care at all that it's just starting. To each their own, really.

I think you can complain about something and still love it. We just came back from the best trip ever. Seriously, might have been the best week of my life :) Pixie dust from start to finish.

But we did have some annoyances that happened and things I really didn't like along with some terrible dining experiences (which I didn't write about on here, just sent an email to Guest Communications instead). But if I wrote them out, you would think I was all down on WDW, but meanwhile I had the best time of my life.

Some of the complaints I read make me wonder what the poster's life is like. To me, getting herded like cattle, stuck on a train and waiting in lines is part of my every day routine.

When I leave my train in the morning I think "walking in a crowd is much nicer in Disney". When I cross the street in the crowd I think "Disney is more organized".

Yesterday when a train was delayed due to a fatality on the track I thought "people don't walk on the tracks at Disney".

When I order my morning tea, I have to double check to make sure it is decaf. If it is wrong, I get it corrected but no apology or extras.

In a prior job, at night there were mice running around our feet and cockroaches so big you would run from them. There were also rats on the pipes.

In short, nothing has every happened at Disney that is worse than my daily life. When we go to Disney, there may be minor inconveniences but then I remember if I was at work right now I would be doing "xxx" and my irritation fades away.

You are absolutely right. Some people are only happy when they complain, or spend all of their time judging others. To me I can never have a bad time at Disney, I dont care what other people are doing there or that the weather might not be perfect. But I am there with my family and thats what counts.
