Does everyone make room request?

I'm just curious. We have made requests in the past and it just seems hit or miss, It also seems it takes so much longer to get your room because they do seem to make an effort to meet guest requests. We stayed at the Poly in June and just requested a balcony, we arrived at 7:30am and our room was ready with a balcony. I had been debating about making a room request for our Oct trip to the Poly and I think I will again go very basic, "balcony" and just be surprised by what building.

I used to always make a room request, especially if I was staying at a new resort. But now that we've stayed at just about every resort and it's just my husband and me, I don't anymore. However, we have checked in around 11:00 AM and still have had to call back for our room number since it wasn't ready yet. I don't think having no requests and checking in early means you will always get a room right away.

Only make a room request if it is something you really want. If nothing in particular matters to you, then don't make a request.

I have never made a room request and have always been happy with what I got. There isn't too much that matters to us, so we just go with the flow. Our room has always been ready when we checked in (both early in the day and late) but that just might be luck!

I the past the only thing I asked for was smoking now it is just near a DSA

The only request I've ever made is for non-smoking. The only future request I plan to make is "Not a previously smoking room" as we had one this past trip and the smell had definitely lingered in the room.

Only thing I ask for is "peaceful and relaxing". I'm leery of over-requesting. I figure I could end up next to an extremely noisy room in the "desirable" area.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on ex-smoking rooms. I know they've been thoroughly cleaned. However, if I walked into a room and I smelled any smoke at all, I'd zip back to the desk and request a change. Smoke smell doesn't make for a nice vacation.

I'm hoping this will gradually become a non-issue. Wasn't it June of 07 the new rules went into place? That means by June of 08 it will have been a year since someone smoked in a smoking room........theoretically speaking........

Sometimes. This fall going with my parents I have requested Alligator Bayou near a smoking area, because mom smokes. Last year at the Poly I requested 3rd floor Raratonga and we got 1st floor tokelau. Which turned out to be a blessing because my sis hurt her back before she came, and it was much easier on her to be on the ground floor.

My only room request (consistently) = king size bed. Sometimes in the past, I've been able to guarantee it, not so much lately.

We prefer the ground floor whenever possibleand we have always gotten it. We don't have much preference beyond that.

I make fairly generic requests like upper floor or balcony, but not specific floors or buildings. For the most part, I usually get my request. The one time I didn't, they had the section I wanted closed down for refurbishment. I have had to wait for rooms every once in a while, but not very often. One time I had to wait until after 6pm, but it was just busy not because I had made any particular request.

I only made 1 request in PORS and seemed to have gotten the opposite.....
Does anyone really look at the request anyway.........

Over all my many stays at WDW resorts, I never made a room request and I never had a problem with my room. Sometimes, having too many expectations only leads to disappointment. Since I had no expectations other than a clean room, I was always okay with the room I got.

No, we have never requested anything except for a balcony at the Poly. We have always gotten fantastic rooms!

I always think it's crazy to hear about people making specific room number requests!! Non-smoking is as picky as we get.

I usually request to be in a few Longhouses, I don't care which one they give me but I like the ones I pick.

I used to request no smoking.

And I like the bottom floor so one of us can leave the room while the youngest is napping by the sliding door. But we did stay 3rd floor on our last trip garden view & had a great view of the fireworks.

I don't request a specific room number though.

I am staying at Wilderness Lodge with my husband and daughter in November. We have never staye dthere before and I just read about the bunk beds in some rooms. I would like to surprise my daughter with a bunk bed room. Does anyone know if this costs more or if Ijust have to request it?

The bunk bed rooms are not available by request. You have to pay $25 more per night for a bunk bed and book it when you make your reservations. They are available for booking in woods and courtyard view rooms.

My DH and I always stay at the Mods, preferably POFQ, and we request second floor. Our experience is that the first floor rooms tend to be a bit musty, where as the second floors are not. So far we have not had a problem with making requests. Knock on wood, we have made the same request for our up coming Feb '08 trip.

I'm with Feralpeg. Over 20 trips never made a request so was never disappointed.
