Does everyone do this?

or am I just too obsessive?

Anyway, I collect spinner pins, but not just any spinner pins. The only ones I want are the ones where the axis of rotation is perpendicular to the page (like the Main Street Electrical Parade Farewell pin), not the spinner pins where the axis is parallel to the page (like the Millenium 1999/2000 pin from the Disney Store).

To make matters worse, I originally bought the Ariel Magical Musical Moment pin (I think it's #3) to go with my spinner pins. I had decided not to get the entire MMM set since they didn't strike me as being all that different from the previous Disney Store sets. However, now that the pins are 75% off, I went back to my Disney Store and I was able to get almost all of the MMM pins that I hadn't bought previously. And a binder. But there are no more #3 - Part of Your World pins.

So now I have this problem, where do I put this pin? If I leave it with the spinners, then I have a gap in the binder set. But if I take it off my spinners page, I feel like I'll be missing something on that page.

So my question is -- am I the only person who will keep duplicates of a pin to fill two different criteria? Or am I just nuts? (My DH would go for nuts -- he couldn't believe it when I came home with 60+ MMM pins the other day, he thought I was buying them to trade, foolish man!)

Okay, I would vote for nuts ... but then I'm the person that collects patriotic pins, and I'm putting together the full 93 pin set of lanyard-exclusive pins, so I have a full set of USA pins for the lanyard-only set and I'm trying to put together a 2nd set of USA pins for my patriotic collection ... so nuts, yes, but then so am I.

Susan,
If you happen to find a third Donald USA that you don't need, think of me.
I have been trying to find that one pin for months now. It's the only one I need for my set.
And I am only collecting one set, I had enough trouble finding these. Peggie

Peggie,

Will definitely keep you in mind. My "second" set includes Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy. So I still need Donald as well (oy). :)

Mario,

What would you like in exchange for Minnie??

Didn't I read somewhere that you have to be at least slightly nuts to be into this hobby of pin collecting?
Or is that just my nutso brain hooking on to a juicy rationalization? :p

Lynnie,

I think you have to be 100% certifiable and on the waiting list for the loonie bin before being allowed into pin trading.

:)

Like ivanova I collect the Patriotic pins and the laynard pins I managed to get an extra set of USA pins for the partriotic part of my collection.. So DH thinks I'm nuts and DS and DD thinks let not go there...

So If you have two collections nd display them differently YES, you would have to get the extra pin... It's understandable RIGHT!!

Cathy

Mario,

If you and Susan do a trade, I would be honored to transport the pins back and forth! And I won't even charge postage!

I have over 500 Flex pins - Now why in the world did I ever think I might need that many.

Geez.

Darlene

Oh no - I just remember = now there is another year of flex pins out there that I do not have.

Note to self - spend 10 days in Disney World finding the new flex pins.

Have you been to a Ken's Beef & Dogs pin meet?
I have a big bag full of MMM pins, but I don't know if I have the one you need.
Anyway check out my pin meet annoucement elsewhere in this board. I'll have to check tonight for #3. If I don't have an extra to trade maybe one of the other traders will.

I only collect pins that have a pointy nail sticking out of the back, but only if it is perpendicular to the pin not parallel (clasp style). Go figure!

Lord of the

My wife insists on sorting and organizing her pins while sitting in the dinning room facing west and in the nude.

Who am I to argue.

I on the other hand am as normal as the rest of you. :)

Charles,

I did not realize you were such a discriminating collector :jester:

Kim:

Although I haven't done it often, I have on occasion gotten an extra of a pin to go with different collecting themes. As to the Disney Store Part of Your World Ariel pin, I have extras if you still need/want one. Barring any unforseen conflicts I will be at the monthly meet at Ken's on Wednesday and will bring Ariel with - hope to see you and everyone else then.

Anne from Chicago

p.s. I've bumped up the post with the info on the monthly meet at Ken's as a reminder
