Okay so I was so excited about our upcoming trip to DLR in Dec, even if only for a few days, but then I got an email pin code offer for WDW for 4 nights/5 days and FREE DINING!!! This is also the Plus plan that includes character meals! We can afford the trip but not the airfare, OMG super expensive right now! I got a courtesy hold for the Polynesian for 4 nights/5 days with base tix and free dining for $2100!!!!! My husband totally won't go for it though because of the airfare and now I'm wondering if DLR ever offers free dining? Are there codes out there like there are for WDW? Thanks

Hey, Lynda - Haven't seen you on here in a while! I was just wondering where you were the other day, and how your December plans are coming along (for your great holiday stay at the GCH!!!).

I also got the dining e-mail for WDW and was bummed because I wish they would offer that for DLR. Oh well, seeing that I got a good PPH rate and you got a REALLY great GCH rate, I guess we can't hope for too much this year. But next year is when everybody gets in free (or gets a gift card) on their birthday!

I haven't been here in a while, things have just been crazy here with Susie starting preschool, birthdays, my sister and niece coming for a visit, a little trip down to the beach in Mexico(a 4 hour drive from here)! Whoosh a month just flew by and now it is almost October!!!

So what is this about getting in free next year???

DLR doesn't do free dining, huh? That sux!

New promo info here. They are having the same promo at WDW and DLR by the way. :)

The dining plan at DLR is nothing like the plan at WDW, since it's basically just vouchers for dollar amounts and vouchers for a number of character meals depending on how long you get the plan for. Of course it would be a value if those vouchers were free, but the packages at DLR are rarely a good value anyway (compared to getting everything separately at bargains you find), and I imagine it would be even worse, overall, with free food vouchers.

You could also look at traveling by train instead of flying to WDW. We are taking the train to DL from Oregon and it was only $400 round trip for three of us!

So far, I have only seen the same e-mails you have seen - in fact, I think I received TWO of them - for the free dining at WDW. Perhaps the people who go to WDW as a rule, or live out of California, got e-mails for free dining at DLR? But I have not been so lucky!

Okay, to answer your question, now that the YOMD is coming to an end at the end of December, Disney is beginning new promos. I think they must be losing business because of the bad economy and high unemployment rates, so they are trying to lure in business. So last week, they announced a new thing where everyone can get in free on their birthday in 2009. You have to go ON your actual b-day and if you already have an AP or a ticket to get in, they will give you a "Fun Card" (Gift card) in place of a ticket but you have to use the card on that day. I think there are also a couple of other alternate gifts they will give you in place of an admission ticket. You can register your whole family too!

wdw free dinning is it happening next year? and are you alowed to upgrade to the bigger dinning package if you get the small one free?

traveling by train instead of flying to WDW? ya were thinking of doin it seems i can get 600 or 700 round trip 3 of us in stead 1200 plane tickets. its insaine

Do i even want to know how long it would take to get from Phoenix to Orlando by train??? No thanks!

Whatever... I just noticed that you can only get a free admission at one park! You can't register at both DLR and WDW??? How do I know which one I might want to visit next year on any given family birthday? That is ridiculous!

You can upgrade the ticket to a Hopper, which is a pretty good deal. I don't know if you can register at both WDW and DLR. I think it is still a good promo, considering the admission prices. Even if you are an AP holder, you get a gift card for the value of $69 which is good. Maybe it is a better deal for people who live locally?

Yeah I just checked it out and you can not register at both WDW and DLR you have to choose one or the other! I know you can upgrade the tix, but still it is impossible for me to decide now where whether we will want to head to Fl or CA next Sept or Oct. I doubt we will go to either for my b-day in March b/c the weather in FL is terrible then and I doubt we will want to go to DLR in March either. We would most likely go for one of our daughters' b-days in the fall.

im in az i priced and checked the time ited be about 5days on train back and forth and we might just do it-save 600 or so and have more spending money lol of course part me never wants to fly again but i willwhen if i need to
