I was shocked when I saw the park hours!
I see that DCA stays open till 9 on those nights, but still!!
What time is it getting dark down in Anaheim in early May?

Yes, the guessing is that the park is closing at 7:30 pm to prep for the 60th anniversary. They are closing DL early (it was generally open until 9:00 pm in May), but they are opening DCA long (it would normally close at 8:00 pm). Also, it appears that on a number of those days, they are opening DL an hour early (e.g., at 9:00 am instead of 10:00 am).

Sunset appears to be around 7:30 pm in May.

Overall, if you have hoppers, the parks are open more hours those days than normal. But yes, DL closes at 7:30 several times from late April through May. And both DL and DCA close at 6pm on different days in the week right before the 24-hour event. But on each day the parks close early, they also open earlier. So if DL was supposed to be open 9-9, it'll be open 8-7:30 with DCA still open until 9. This gives park goers an extra hours. On 2 of the days during our trip DL is open until 10 when it may have otherwise closed at 9. Not that we'll stay that late; I'm just glad the parks open an hour early so we can enjoy morning time.

OUR FIRST DAY WE'LL LAND AROUND NOON, GETTING INTO THE PARK AROUND 2:30 PROBABLY.
WOW! THAT ONE DAY IS SORT OF CRAZY PRICED ALL THINGS CONSIDERED.
SO BUMMED.

So, I'd recommend going to DCA that day (though if you have hoppers, you could try both). You can actually get a lot packed into a few hours there. I frequently go on 6-8 hour trips with my family and have seen a lot in that time. The hours do kind of stink, but they're prepping for the new night shows and stuff, so it makes sense. The good news is that it's the off-season (or as off-season as it gets anymore) so there will probably not be huge crowds. It's part of the balancing act. Short hours, fewer crowds, or long hours, insane crowds. It's a decent trade-off.

You will still be able to get a lot done :) I am hoping for a preview of some sort whether AP or CM one of those nights as i'm there May 15-22, so fingers crossed!! :)

Yikes! Just discovered the screwy park hours on 3 of the days we will be there. Guess I will have to get the lazy bones traveling with me "up and at em" a little earlier than usual. Oh well. Anytime in the park for me is better than none at all. I am so ready to be there! 8 more days! :-)
