Does Disney still price bridge a hopper to an AP?

We have a 7 day hopper from 2015 that has been sitting in our MDE. If we were to upgrade that to an annual pass would they use the value of the ticket from 2015 (it was purchased from Park Savers) or the current gate price for a 7 day hopper?? Thanks!!!

Thank you. I read that. :) I am curious how Disney knows the value of the tickets when purchased at an authorized ticket reseller. This ticket was purchased on Oct. 18th 2016. So will Disney use that year's gate price to value my ticket? I paid 387 because Park Savers had a special buy a 4 day park hopper get 3 free. According to the link posted a 7 day gate priced hopper with tax was 467. This ticket has been sitting in my MDE since then. THANKS.

It doesn’t matter what you actually paid. From post #6 in the link above, usethe link from option A for tickets created prior to Feb 2017 to find the value towards an upgrade.

Enjoy your vacation!

Yes.
Not knowing what YOU paid for the ticket is the reason for "price-bridging" the value to the "Disney price"
for the purpose of upgrading.
So will my upgrade be based on the actual price of a gate 7 day price from 2016 (purchased at Park Savers Oct. 18th 2016) or the current gate price? Thanks!!!

The price in 2016. Disney may not know what you paid for the ticket, but they most certainly know what they would've sold that ticket for at the gate in 2016.

That's the price they'll use as the value of the ticket.

Okay thanks!!! Back in the day they used to bridge to the current gate price. :)

We even need to step away from using the comparison to Disney's "GATE price."
The price we should be discussing and using in upgrade computations is Disney's "ON-LINE price."
(The two price lists are no longer the same on tickets with more than 2 park "days.")

All of that is explained in the linked sticky I posted.

Hi Robo, I reread your sticky (for the first time in years)... and was trying to decipher... can you bridge and upgrade to a specialty AP? As in, if I use UT tickets (which are often a savings), can I upgrade to a DVC AP (which is an additional savings)? And I know you used to recommend using it at least once, but your sticky also talks about upgrading before you arrive. Is there an advantage/disadvantage to that? And can it still be done for my mentioned scenario?

I have done just what you want to do, but it was years ago. It worked perfectly. Not sure if it is the same now. Disney does not know what you paid for your hopper as far as the discounted amount from UT.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. No price difference, nor is the ability to upgrade affected if done either way.
4. Yes.

Can you clarify what you mean "the two price lists are no longer the same on tickets with more than 2 park days" Are you speaking of the lists in the sticky? THANKS!!!

The price lists ON-LINE are the prices to use for upgrade computation.
(The Ticket Sticky points to those on-line prices.)

The prices at the park gates (AKA "Gate Price") are different from (they are higher than) the on-line prices (except for tickets that have two or less days.)

So, it is generally inaccurate to refer to "gate price" when discussing comparing or computing upgrade costs.

Thank you. So if i choose to upgrade this 7 day hopper (to a DVC AP)... that I bought from Park Savers in Oct. 2016...Disney will give me the 2016 price in that sticky towards the current price of the AP? Correct?

As long as you follow the info in Post #6 of the Sticky... for the ticket that you have, you should be fine.

I know the recent posts are about an older ticket, but I thought I'd mention, some of the wording threw me off when we just upgraded UT tickets to an an DVC AP. I did the math 12 times before I realize what was wrong.

We had gotten 8 day hoppers from UT a few months ago. The page says save $70 off of gate prices. Well, that's true, but since we were doing online price to a DVC AP, gate price didn't matter. In the end we save $50 with each ticket we upgraded vs just buying a DVC gold AP.

See that is what confuses me too. Apparently Disney has a way to go back with these older tickets and value them. When I originally bought the discounted Park Saver ticket back in 2016 it was a great deal. It was a 4 day hopper and 3 days free making it a 7 day. I paid 387.46. I just bought it to save basically because it was a great deal and at the time we had AP's and were renewing them. Back in the day this same ticket would be bridged to current online prices instead of what they were back in 2016 I am still getting a good upgrade because this ticket is worth 467 now towards a DVC gold pass based on the sticky chart.

What @jo-jo is describing is "gate price" vs. "on-line price."
There is simply a "service fee" added when guests wait to buy multi-day tickets at the gate.
("Pays for" hiring a CM to sit in the booth.)
Anyone with much WDW knowledge knows to not buy multi-day tickets at the gate.
(For one thing, FPs can't be booked in advance.)
But, discussing the total savings based on "gate price" makes for a better marketing issue for UT's "X less than gate price."

No need to be confused.
Just use the on-line prices when computing upgrade costs.
