I know the recent posts are about an older ticket, but I thought I'd mention, some of the wording threw me off when we just upgraded UT tickets to an an DVC AP. I did the math 12 times before I realize what was wrong.
We had gotten 8 day hoppers from UT a few months ago. The page says save $70 off of gate prices. Well, that's true, but since we were doing online price to a DVC AP, gate price didn't matter. In the end we save $50 with each ticket we upgraded vs just buying a DVC gold AP.
With UT, basically subtract approximately $21 from what their page says you're saving on a ticket to figure out the real amount you're saving vs. buying via the Disney website in advance. And as others have noted - you can use the charts in the FAQ to find out the value of the ticket if you use if for an upgrade - which under current procedures, will be the value you will receive towards a new ticket regardless of whether you do it immediately or after a future price increase.
