Does Disney require an adult in each room?

im taking my daughter and 3 friends to Disney to celebrate her Sweet 16. Considering 2 budget rooms, preferably next door to each other, but I am the only adult going, so if we get 2 rooms, only 1 will have an adult registered. Will Disney allow this?

No. Every room needs to have a lead guest that is 18+.

I would consider an AoA or ASMu family suite. You could book 1 room that sleeps 5 at CBR or POR as well - it will be cramped, but it's allowed.

How do they handle this when large school, sports or cheer groups come? When I was in high school our band came and I know that we were 4 16yo girls in our room

I believe that group bookings are handled differently and subject to different requirements.

It was at the Poly, but my dad took my best friend & I when we were 16 and we had our own (connecting) room.

Get them on the phone to make your booking for the connecting rooms... can't do online.

I went to pop as a single mom with four kids. I booked two rooms and the phone agent as well as front desk said that I would have a Guaranteed connecting room.

So they'll allow it for connecting rooms?

I know when my family of 2A 3kids wants connecting rooms, it is treated as a "we'll do our best" request. I had been told that families that only have one adult are treated as a guarantee. According to party_of_five, it seems to be the case.

I can only speak from my experience in June 2015. I called to make the reservation and had to list the ages of all children. I didn't even request an adjoining room since my 17 year old was with us. They representative on the phone said that we would have guaranteed adjoining rooms due to ages of children. When I was checking in the receptionist said "It looks like you have a guaranteed adjoining room."
I just assumed they would guarantee the adjoining room with one adult and more kids than would fit in a room.

Yes I understand that but equally there have been reports from people in similar circumstances who have turned up to find out it wasn't guaranteed.

We just took a high school dance group in Jan and we had to have an adult in every room. We did have adjoining rooms and still had to have one per room.

Lots of people travel with situations that the under 18's out number the adults. You will be assigned connecting rooms. They have to do that for liability. It's guaranteed in their system but you won't see it on your paperwork.

Not surprisingly, once again, a disney phone rep gave wrong information. Connecting rooms are not guaranteed - ever.

My DD is going to WDW next year with a school group. There are 4 girls to a room, no adults. Groups are subject to different rules.
