My Wife and I have a trip planned starting on July 17th to July 25th at Pop. I keep reading rumors of possible resorts not opening. In the event that a resort doesn't open will Disney move to another place? Or at least give an option to upgrade?

I have been moved twice in all the trips, weekend getaways, and one nighter's...

Once was from POP to CBR... as the room was not cleaned, and it smelled like mold, really really bad, long long story... we request to be moved to another room or hotel whatever was the easiest... and offered to pay for a upgraded room, which they declined and just moved us..

Second time... Was from CSR to POR, not sure if this was over booking, or a large convention taking place... I got notice as we were pulling into the parking lot at CSR... So I did go in and it was chaos in there... We got the same room King bed, and we did get a nice view... so it was all good...

You will be visiting right as things open up sooo... I am sure if they are planning on moving you, some type of notice will be sent to you... If you wanted to you could give a call in July once they have a better idea of how it is all going to work...

Yes, they will move you to another hotel. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I would imagine you'll receive advance notice of where they intend to move you and give you an option to upgrade (for cost) if the resort they are moving you to does not appeal. You wouldn't have to pay for any upgrade costs associated with where THEY move you to (if there are any), but if you decline that and choose where you want to stay instead, you'd have to pay any additional costs.

All that said, I've seen speculation that Pop will likely remain open due to being on the Skyliner. Not only is the Skyliner a big draw, but its relatively easy to socially distance on it and it doesn't require a lot of CMs to operate. It also helps keep the need for buses down for the resorts on the Skyliner.

As of today, no WDW hotel has announced its opening date. My source has told me that Disney has said they will move guests vs outright cancel, but that guests wont have a choice to where,,,of course, all is subject to change, and Disney could scrap that idea all together,

Until something is confirmed, only guests who have a reservation at an open DVC resort know for sure they have a room.

If I get any info about actual guests being moved from my source, I will share.

I was told by a disney rep via chat that if the resort isnt open in time, they may just cancel the reservation. This was just her guess though, so, I'm hoping they just move people!!! We are scheduled to stay at POR on 8/21, hoping the resort will just be open

In an interview last week, Bob Chapek already confirmed that some resorts will not re-open immediately, he just did not state which ones. I, personally, believe WDW will do whatever they can to accommodate guests who have existing reservations at resorts they do not plan to re-open. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is wait for either an official announcement or for Disney to start reaching out, individually, to guests (or their TAs) to let them know their options and that can be frustrating, for sure! I'm sure if people begin to be moved or canceled, we will see some reports on these boards.

Just my opinion but I suspect it may have a lot to do with capacity limits. I think they would prefer to move folks but if they have more reservations than they are willing to keep - they'll have to cancel some. I personally think WDW is hoping some folks will cancel themselves due to uncertainties, limited experiences, new rules, etc. which will cull the pool of reservations. If folks feel that a onsite reservation should guarantee them access to the parks, that may not be possible without limiting the number of resort reservations. So if enough don't cancel, WDW may have to make that decision. Just my thought.

My thoughts are people booked in the resorts that are not open will be moved to one that is. I think they will start opening other resorts, but who knows when. Could be a few weeks or a few months.

It looks increasingly like The 15s will not be able to come, and assuming that is true, that is a TON of July Cancellations right there-I would "guess" about 35 per cent of July Value Resort Reservations and a substantial amount for the Mods as well.

So July,I would think, would be the easiest month to accommodate everyone with existing Reservations.

Uh oh... my1 July YC room only reservation has disappeared from MDE! Split stay 12 July reservation is still there. Anyone else?

I just read on an other thread that Disney has started doing cancellations up to July 11th........

Which forum? I'd like to read the posts. Thanks!

P.S. I have a Fastpass link on my resort reservation, too, but it won't actually let me select people, a day, or a park.
