Hiya gang.... I'm travelling with a group of friends and family next May for approx 1 week and I was wondering if anyone knew if Disney offered any type of group rate. I know that in the past that offered a small discount with a "Magical Gathering", but is there anything now? There will be approx 15 - 20 of us all in total. Thanks!!!

I was told once a few years ago by a CM at CRO that you needed to have about 70 in your party to have a group rate. Not sure if that is the case now, but I'm pretty sure that 15-20 does not qualify for this. We've had as many as 17 in our party and did not get a group rate.

They still offer grand gatherings on the phone, at cro. Not sure if it is still for 2007, but worth the asking. They are the nicest people. I have gotten them by mistake a couple of times. :wizard:

Now what exactly was included in a grand gatherings package?

To be considered a group you must guarantee that you are booking a minimum number of rooms. I think the minimum is 10 sleeping rooms.

As far as Magical Gatherings (aka Grand Gatherings), any group of 8 or more paying guests traveling together is considered a Grand Gathering. There really aren't any discounts, but people that are part of a grand gathering get a higher priority for adjoining or connecting rooms (after people who have a legitimate need for guaranteed connecting rooms) and also can participate in exclusive dining and entertainment events. These Grand Gatherings events do have an additional fee but they're very fun. Aside from that I don't think there are any specific discounts for Grand Gatherings.

Yes it is 10 rooms but they dont have to be all at the same resort. You can be spread out. Last Oct we did a Leisure group. Our rooms were at Pop, AKL, POR and POFQ.

We (14) are going July 8-15 staying at the BC. We have 3 rooms booked. The only perks that you get for being a grand gathering is a breakfast event (not sure the name), Safari dinner at AK or an Epcot International Dinner. We are booked for both the Safari dinner and the Epcot dinner. Each was about $60 per adult. I have heard great things about these. I will let you know when we get back. The only discounts that I got was on the rooms and that was because we booked through AAA. If you belong to AAA you can book I believe up to 4 rooms with your discount. (Someone correct me if I am wrong) I booked 3 packages (rooms, tickets and dining) with my AAA number. Saved us a little bit of money.

GG and Leisure groups are 2 different things. Leisure groups do get a discount on rooms, whereas the GG do not (unless you book on a APH rate or AAA).
You do have to sign a contract on the Leisure Group rooms and the cancelation period is different (2 months vs 5 days).

With Leisure groups once your contract is signed you are turned over to a Service Manager who helps you with whatever you need help with. Ours was Sue Smith and she was great!
