no they wont in the queue area so have a fun time don't worry you wont need it in toy story mania queue:thumbsup2 sorry that my favorite ride.

just thinking ahead for next time ;) My son had a few moments of disorientation on some of the darker queues (which seemed just fine for normal visioned me..) one I can remember was space mountain as we were trying to walk fast through the FP lane - he grabbed a rail at one point and yelled "I can't see a THING!" I was just thinking of tossing in a flashlight for him but didn't know if that would be frowned upon.

I think it would be fine - I've read that for tips on other areas of the disboards for children afraid of the dark -

the only time it gets annoying is when parents allow their child to point the flashlight in other people's eyes during the ride (Pirates of the Caribbean)

but that wouldnt happen with your child! :wizard:

yes on the ride disney might say something but not in the queue he will be fine some of those queue are dark and having a flash light would be a good idea.

Some places may be a real problem. When I went into HM I had the headlight on my ECV turned on, but apparently the rug is so dark that I almost could not see where the beam was hitting the floor. And I don't have weak vision.

I think bringing a flashlight for dark queue lines is a great idea! Better to be able to see than to possibly be hurt or disoriented.---Kathy

There are some very dark queues even for people without any vision problems - on that wasn’t mentioned that comes to mind is the Nemo ride at Epcot.

I agree with the other posters that I don’t think Disney would see any problem with it as long as the light is not being aimed at anyone.

Sue, We had trouble in the dark que at the Nemo ride a few years back. A CM noticed the problem and led us around a lit hallway that they use to empty Turtle Talk. It had better lighting and brought us out in the area where you get into the clam shells. It was a good solution for us!

We also struggled in EPCOT in the Energy movie area. We entered just as the movie was beginning and it was very dark in there!

The Tower of Terror que can be very dark too.

I carry a small LED flashlight to use to read menus so it is always close by to use in ques when we need it.

A pad of paper and pens/pencils are readily accessible at each location for Cast Members to utilize, if necessary, to communicate with Guests with needs at Walt Disney World Resort. Cast Members with abilities in Sign Language can be identified with the appropriate language pin. Guest Assistance Packets containing dialogue, flashlights, and pen and paper are available at or near the performance areas or entrances for most shows and attractions. Guests should contact a host/hostess at the attractions.

I had no idea - but it reminded me of this thread -

now, I think headlamps might hit other guests in their field of visions, but I can say we use "mag lights: (can be found at WalMart or Target) like a pen light, but we add a rope and you can loop it and put it around the neck!!

thanks for all the tips and commiserations. :) He's 11, so no flashlight shenanigans would be happening.

Now, I guess another question is ...is he going to get a load of crap from the dis-nazis for disturbing their magical dark queue experience? (don't answer that.) :rotfl:

I would hope no one would be that crude but you never know. I know that most times with my mom and dad, people around us were very helpful and did everything they could to help my parents get through the dark areas.

I know on our last trip my mom yelled out in TOT about it being so dark that she could not see. She has dementia and she did swear but the mostly adult crowd in the TV viewing room with us just cracked up and agreed with her. I was relieved that no one was offended but then how many well over 90 year olds are super excited and can't wait to ride TOT?

One time in the dark of Ellen's Energy movie a smart nasty kid did stick a leg up to trip my father. Fortunately I had his arm and was able to keep him from falling. I was horrified that anyone would put their leg out like that but some people are just ignorant!

I use lights on my wheelchair for dark queues, and no one has ever given me a hard time. the only thing that bothers me is when lights are in my eyes, but pointed at the ground should be fine!

I have eye problems, and have trouble with dark queues. If I don't have a pen flashlight, I sometimes turn on the cellphone light. I have the most trouble at Nemo, movie theater type attractions, and Pirates. It helps me if their is a guide railing like in Space Mtn.
Sometimes my DH will forget, and go ahead and then hear me say "I CAN'T SEE".... Since my disablity is double vision, I have to wear prisim lens, and they can get tricky sometimes.

I think Pirates was another trouble spot. DS vision issue is ever changing and we have no real clue as to how fast it will deteriorate so it was a surprise to us this last trip that these were an issue. I never would have anticipated it. And really, it was only when we were barreling through the FP lines or the lines with no waits. You know how it goes when the line is going fast and you're trying to slow down....

Sort of a catch 22 (I wonder if they give a GAC so we can walk slowly in line hahaha)
