Hi my girlfriend and I will be going to disney in late September but we are not doing the parks. We both always wanted to learn how to play golf and I just thought this would be a great time. Does disney offer golf lessons? Also do they have a driving range?? If so, where can I find info on this such as rates and hours??

Disney has driving ranges at Osprey Ridge, as well as Palm/Magnolia. I'm not sure about lessons, but you can certainly hit a bucket.

Also...They have a 9 hole walking course called Oak Trail. This is located with Palm & Magnolia (near the Grand Floridian).

Oak Trail is a "Family Friendly" course where golfers of ALL abilities can enjoy. My son and I just played last week with (2) others that had never been on a course.

Check out http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/golf/
for golf info.

Enjoy

There is also a range at the Lake Buena Vista course, which may also be convenient if staying at SSR, OKW, or POR/FQ...

From the disney website:

The Practice Facility at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course lets you hone your skills—from driving to putting—to improve your game in the most pleasing of settings.

Four driving ranges and 4 practice putting greens are available throughout Walt Disney World Resort Golf. Disney's Magnolia boasts an excellent practice facility, but you'll find one nearby no matter where you play at the Resort. Improve your long and short game, and even sharpen your sand play in our practice bunkers.

You can also enhance your skills with personalized, professional lessons from PGA instructors. For information, call (407) 938-GOLF (938-4653). You must be 18 years of age or older to dial this number.

I never realized that there were driving ranges! We are staying at SSR...we won't have our own car..how would we get to Lake Buena Vista Golf Course?

Thanks Robo..I assumed that was intended for people playing the full course..I wonder if they offer it just for practice.

There's also the thing next to Fantasia Minigolf. It's a nine course deal. I've never done it, but I know it's there. That's right across from the Swan and Dolphin. And then there's the Wintersummerland Course next to Blizzard Beach.

If you're staying at SSR, just walk. The clubhouse for LBV is located within the resort, sort of in between the main check in building and Congress Park, if that gives you an idea...

Hey! We're thinking of staying at SSR again in the spring, and I do know where the clubhouse is for LBV. But I don't recall seeing a driving range. Anyone know where it is? Perhaps it might show up on a course map?

Also - I'm assuming that (for a fee?) they would have clubs to rent? Even if you're just hitting a bucket of balls or putting?

1) Yes, there are rages and lessons available.
2) However, I would recommend you do this near your home.
. . . any golf course will give you lessons
. . . even most private courses will give non-members lessons
. . . it doesn't take away your time from Disney activities
. . . if you have a lesson or two ahead of time, then you can GOLF at Disney

NOTE: I have belonged to private clubs all my life. I have not had one single club pro that would not give lessons to a non-member. After all, this is part of the pro's income. Just call their pro shop and ask for the pro - easy to arrange.

The range is across the canal and close to the 1st tee at the LBV course.

The Pro Shop is essentially right underneath the Turf Club restaurant.

The one disappointment with the Disney golf experience DW and I have had was with the golf lessons. Granted this was 16 years ago and things might have changed, but we took some lessons there and the Pro told us it would have been best to have taken beginning lessons with our local Pro at home then used the WDW pros to hone specific skills while we were there. It also could have been the individual instructor, but it was not a very satisifying experience for us

Couldn't you learn to golf at home? I really don't get this. There are so many golf coarses where you can learn from but to goto Disney for this? Wow? I would hope there are other reasons besides learning to golf to goto Disneyworld.
