I am so interested in purchasing DVC, mostly interested in AKV. I don't want to finance anything. 100 points would get us a studio for a week. We are really never in our room, but LOVE the deluxe resorts especially for the pools! So hoping Disney will sell 100 points

I know that a couple of months ago they were! However, you would have to call and ask to make sure! It was also only available at SSR and AKL I believe. Also, I don't think that you would qualify for many of the incentives. If you only need 100 points a resale is a great way to go!

Don't know if Disney is selling 100 point new member buy-ins any longer. afaik they are not. Around end of 2008/beginning 2009 for couple months they did offer 100 point new member buy-in purchase for AKV points ( & think at SSR also).

I believe that if you currently purchase directly through Disney you will be required to purchase 160 points minimum so if you want to become a DVC member by purchasing less points than this you will need to shop the resale market for a smaller contract; it's a good way to buy into DVC for what you're describing & your membership will not be treated any differently so no worries there.

The board sponsor, The Timeshare Store, is excellent and knowledgeable for DVC resales; myself and many who post here have purchased contracts through them with excellent results :thumbsup2 And in many cases $ saved purchasing resale beats any incentive DVC may be offering on direct purchase through them.

Best wishes on your planning :goodvibes

As others have said, Disney was allowing new members to buy in at AKV and SSR at the 100 point level a few month ago (I know it was still available in March).

The incentives, of course, were not that good at that level, but it was a way for someone to get in to DVC, directly through Disney.

I would call Disney and speak to a guide and find out. If they are not doing it any longer, then you can go resale. If you know you want around 100 points, get your name on the email lists from some of the brokers and let them know what you are interested in. This way, if something becomes available that fits your needs, you will be all set.

Buying resale, does take longer, but can certainly save you money and allows you to get in at those lower point levels. Matter of fact, because resale is cheaper then buying direct, you can might even end up with close to 125 points resale for the same price 100 points would cost direct through Disney (if they are still selling contracts that small to new members).

Back in December when we inquired about DVC the minimum amount they would sell was 160 pts. We opted to buy resale twice before we added on through Disney. We added on to AKV in June while attending a DVC event in Boston. Already being a member I was able to buy as few as 25 pts if I wanted to. My understanding was that new members had to start at 160 pts at that time as well.

I would definitely look at resale. Like a PP said you could end up with 125 pts for what you would pay for 100 pts through Disney.

We used the Time Share Store and had no problems
