Curious as my husband is diabetic. We have a dessert party scheduled and was wondering if sugar free was an option along with sugar free desserts at dining.

I am diabetic and control my diabetes thru exercise but I found a lot of No Sugar Added deserts which do contain natural sugars but are a lot less sweet then everything else.

Sugar free does not necessarily mean ok for a diabetic.

Thank you! DH is type 1 and every year for Christmas my mom will buy him several bags of sugar free candy. The first time she did it, I found the bags months later and asked why he didn't eat them. He told me #1 he didn't like them, but #2 they're worse than sugar candy for a diabetic because of the sugar alcohol. I had no idea, either! But he still won't tell her he doesn't eat them. Not that it would matter, my mom gives my type 2 dad a hard time when he has a teeny bit of dessert, but will feed him burritos and rice for dinner (and let him eat all he wants without complaining).

I think I read you can get a special plate to meet your dietary needs at the dessert party, but I would call and check. Sugar free does not mean carb free, which is important to diabetics. Good luck!

Disney does a great job with sugar free items and yes too much of them will keep you on the toilet for days. I have heard that even at the Halloween party if you trick or treat you can take your bag of candy to City Hall and get it replaced with sugar free options. There is a lot of good sugar free options out there. I find the Sugar Free Peanut Clusters that the sell to be good and I have given it to my nephews without saying anything and they loved them also. I am sure if you let them know they will have a sugar free box for your husband.

If you contact Disney ahead of time, they can provide allergy/diabetic safe items at the dessert party. If they don't know to provide them, you might not find them there, so you do need to let them know these items are needed.
