Does Disney Actually Charge the $10 ADR NS Fee?

We have been back home for two weeks, and I just realized that I never bothered to check if we were charged the $10 no show fee for missing our lunch reservation at Nine Dragons at Epcot. (A friend got us into the media day preview of Pandora, so all plans flew out the window that afternoon!)

There is no charge on the folio statement Disney emailed me, and no charge from Disney on my VISA since then. Is it unlikely to be levied? We made our other 6 ADRs as scheduled and spent $1400 on food and drinks during our stay--maybe they decided to overlook it in that case?

It doesn't really matter; I'm just curious.

I don't think you will be charged at this point.
There are lots of posts here both ways. Folks charged and folks not charged

They did for us. But the problem was Via Napoli didn't check us in on the computer, just checked us in in person. So to the computer, we never checked in and got charged the $10 per person. Disney refunded the money so it wasn't an issue. It was just miscommunication at the restaurant.

Good to know this could be a thing and how to handle it if it comes up!

The same think happened to us at Via Napoli.

The same thing happened to us at Splitsville, we even had a bowling lane reserved and for some reason they did not mark us as being there. One call fixed the issue and we got the refund which appeared as a separate charge.

I am guessing if they were going to charge us it would have happened by now. Or maybe the front desk at WL removed the charge, as they also comped our last night's dinner at Via Napoli to apologize for some inconveniences at the resort.

Yes - we had it show up as a separate charge on our charge card (did not appear on our bill from hotel)...$10 each for 12 of us...we cancelled early the morning of our reservation due to 2 of our party being sick overnight..we were still charged the penalty because we cancelled less than the 24 hr window. I went to guest services and they finally agreed to refund but they emphasized that it was a strict policy. (We also had a charge from Via Napoli as a no-show even tho we had been to the restaurant - apparently we had not been checked in via computer...we contacted WDW and they apologized and refunded that charge...seems Via Napoli needs a better system - wonder how many people don't realize they have been charged the no show fee!)

This is good info to know. We have an ADR at Via Napoli next week so we will be sure to make sure we aren't charged a no show fee. Would the charge show by the end of the day?

I would say next day. We checked in around 2:30/3 for lunch and it was there by 7am next day. It probably goes through a batch process and whoever isn't checked in by the computer gets charged.

I've heard it is up to the managers at the restaurants. Some will mark all charges that are for no show and others just won't do it as apart of their closing procedure so you never get charged.

Does anyone know if I need to call Disney Dining because the card I used to make dining reservations was compromised and cancelled? It is a debit connected to my checking account. I entered a new card for any reservations I make from here on out but I don't want to mess around and end up losing the ones I already have.

It depends on the restaurant and the person doing it. I have also been told it can depend on how busy the restaurant was that day. But the more popular the restaurant the more likely they are going to make the charge. Places like the Boathouse, Akershus (or any character meal) and BOG are going to charge.

I would just let it be. I don't think they can do anything besides canceling and trying to rebook, and you don't want to do that!

There is no way for them to know your card was cancelled, so you won't lose any reservations.

Last trip, I cancelled 3 ADRs less than 24 hours out and they always waived the NS fee for me. They explicitly said they were waiving it too, without me asking and they acted like it was no problem. This was a 2016 Xmas trip. I wonder if they are becoming stricter?

In my experience, the no-show fee is enforced inconsistently and depends on a variety of factors, particularly the specific restaurant. A busy, popular location like Via Napoli is considerably more likely to charge the no-show fee than Nine Dragons, for instance, where a reservation is often unnecessary.

At this point, you probably won't be charged.

Our last trip I cancelled a reservation for one of the Signatures within hours of the reservation time and I told the woman I wasn't feeling well and she said she would waive the fee but I really wasn't feeling well. I don't think I would do that regularly just to get the fee waived though. So it does depend on the circumstances.

I was charged at Biergarten once. I had mistakenly made an adr for the wrong date and didn't realize until the charge showed up. Totally my fault but I called anyway to beg mercy for my stupidity and they waived it no problem.
