Does delta ever change flights for weather?

If snow/ice is forecasted, does delta ever offer to fly people out early? Would we still have to pay the change fee? We are with family in Ohio right now. Weather is fine at the moment, but we're supposed to fly to Orlando tomorrow and it looks like a storm is expected.

Yes, the majority of airlines will let you know if a flight is going to be cancelled due to weather....if there is enough lead time. And if a large storm is predicted, then they will often allow you to fly early, with no penalties. BUT....for a flight the next day??? Probably won't be offered.

A check of the Delta website shows that they are allowing changes from certain airports. If this affects you, call now.

We were able to get on a 7pm flight tonight! We don't check into Beach Club until tomorrow, so now to figure out where to stay tonight. Hopefully the airport hotel will have a room available and then we can take magical express tomorrow as planned.

When looking for an Orlando airport hotel there are a lot of choices besides the Hyatt in the airport. Almost all the ones I've looked at in the area have a free shuttle that will get you at the airport and return you the next morning.

I was hoping to not have to drag bags and 4 kids onto a hotel shuttle, then back to the airport the next day, then onto the magical express.

If we put the luggage tags on our bags, would they get to our resort a day early or get lost in Disney luggage limbo?

The date will not prevent the bags from being delivered to your resort. But some irregularities could still happen:

1. If you got off the plane after 10 PM the bags could get sidelined in storage at the airport and might get missed the next morning. But they will be delivered after notification, notification perhaps by you via the resort concierge.

2. If the bags did not make it to Orlando then, although effort will be made to find them after notification the next day, neither the airline nor Disney will pay you for a loss.

3. At the resort the bags may get sidelined in storage and you might have to call, wait, and tip from your room.

Even if your airline had not started entertaining free flight changes due to the impending storm, it will probably let you stand by for free if you physically showed up at the airport.

But actually, I had noticed this was stated, " Glad you were able to get them changed. " Which meant I knew the actual issue was taken care of. I just figured since the thread was active (darn you seashore...shaking fist while blushing) it might be relevant to *someone*!

Plus I was wanting to go find it anyway, for me. This post caused me to do that!
