Does Delta credit you if the rates go down?

I'm curious if Delta will give a credit if rates decrease like Jetblue or SW.

Thanks!

Maybe, maybe not. They used to, just for the asking - but I think now even if you keep the exact same flights Delta still considers it a change and charges you the change fee (unless, of course, you bought expensive refundable tickets :))

If your ticket carries a change fee, they will charge you a change fee even to change the fare, even if that means that you'll have to pay more. Sorry.

Unless you specifically book a refundable ticket, Delta issues a non-refundable ticket, which carries a change fee of $100 for changes, even if the fare decreases. Refundable tickets are more expensive initially, but do not carry any penalty for changes.

Another reason I won't fly Delta any more!

Delta's not special. Most of the airlines work that way. Now a lot of folks prefer to book with the airlines that don't have change fees, but that greatly limits the number of available flights for those folks, and in some cases limits them to airlines that refuse to provide certain aspects of standard service, such as advance seat assignments. There are advantages and disadvantages of all the airlines, and none of them is really better than the rest in all aspects.

Delta's change fee is now $50 - it was reduced about a year ago.

I booked our flights last Sunday and the fare went down by $10 ea. on Monday. I cancelled the first flights (no penalty if by midnight the 1st day after, only on Delta.com). I first tried to just reschedule to get the reduced fare - nope, they wanted the change fee. I also just wanted to change the departure flight to match my brother's, but they wanted a change fee, even with the 24 hours.

Now, the strange thing is that the credited me back the more expensive fare twice!
