Does DDE start at activation like the AP?

If I order my DDE membership tomorrow, does my annual count down take effect on day of distribution or when I activate it at my first visit? We may not go until October (trying for Feb), so don't want to pay for it and have 1/2 the year unusable. Yet want to have it on hand in case we make a break for it and go last minute in February.

It starts the day you order it. There is no "activation" for the DDE, like there is for an AP voucher.

The DDE starts the day you sign up and ends on 3/31/06
I ordered on for this upcoming trip. Although I do not think that I will save $50 on this trip, I also intend to use it again before the end of October. So definitely a money saver.

Seems like this would cause a lot of last minute phone calls, and e-mail letters being carried into restaurants. Mostly frantic WDW goers trying to get the most for their $$.


If it expires 3/31/06, regardless of when you start up (I thought it was an annual membership?), it doesn't matter when you call. Hmmmm....

Maybe theirs ends 03/31/06.
My understanding it is carries over what is apparently 13 months. I *assume* the extra month is thrown in just to carry over whatever processing and mailing time may be involved.
It is not activated at first use as an AP is. The DDE discount begins at the time of purchase, since the restaurants are accepting the confirmation e-mail as proof of the guest as DDE card holder.

Luv2Roam is correct. That don't all expire on 03/31/06. Those ordered this month will expire on that date. Currently they are expiring approximately 1 year and 4 to 6 weeks after you order it since demand is so high and they are taking so long to get them out they are allowing that extra 4 to 6 weeks. Normally the expiration date is 1 year and 2 - 4 weeks after you order them.
