Will DCL match quotes from other travel agencies when you book onboard? I have quotes from other TA's that are coming in lower than DCL but, we are going on the 7 night this Sat. and thought we would book onboard for a 3 night. Should I book onboard or go with the TA? I am hoping DCL will match the quotes...anybody got any info. or advice?

if they don't match, see if you can book onboard and then transfer to a TA without losing your stateroom credit.

Definitely NOT!

What I did was book with my TA.
I then went and spoke with Donna onboard and got quotes with the 10% discount and onboard credits and compared. Turned out the deal I had from my TA was still hands down the better deal. If it hadn't I'd have booked onboard and then transferred my new ressie over to All Seasons when I got back.

If I had to guess:

The discounts from the TAs are basically a portion of their commissions being refunded. Since DCL is the "manufacturer", they can not (and probably won't) give a rate with the commissions excluded. Otherwise, they could technically remove all of the commissions and out compete the TAs. It would be the same as buying shoes from Nike at the same price Footlocker buys them (with no mark-up). Thus, all manufacturers sell their product at our around MSRP (even passporter is a little higher from their website than from Amazon or Borders).

Just a thought...

Thanks for the info. everybody

We took our print out from our best on-line travel quote (like travelocity) and they beat that price on the ship AND gave us the $200 room credit.

I don't know why the other poster said "Definitely not".

Good to know jwann...

I have some quotes that are beating DCL by $400 so I am hoping that they will match it and give me the onboard credit

DCL won't "match" or beat what you have.
They will give you a price. IF that is better than what you have then great. They won't and don't have to get into a bidding war.
Many of the TA's will give up some of their commission as well as some buy bulk bookings early and then can draw on these. This is where sometimes you run into not being able to use OBC's etc as they don't apply to group bookings (even though you're not a part of a group per se, but are for the TA to get you the good price.).
I had booked so early that my early booking discount as well as group price with All Seasons was hundreds cheaper than DCL even with a $200 obc and 10% off.
I think each case has to be looked at individually.
As I said I'd book with a TA before hand and get the lowest price as it may have gone up by the time you take your cruise and return. Have all your numbers when you talk with DCL rep onboard and compare.

Cheers,
Grumbo

The prices at Travelocity are almost always exactly what you'd get from the DCL website. My guess is that they beat that price with the 10% onboard booking discount. My experience is that DCL's price is what it is. In other words, if someone without a printout from Travelocity booked on board, they'd be quoted the same price as you were. That said, it can't hurt to ask, "can you beat this price?"

I beg to differ regarding Travelocity. I booked 4 months prior to sailing and Travelocity was hundreds less than Disney's web site. In fact, every time I check Travelocity they are far less than Disney - just about any online agency is lower than Disney in fact.

I took a quote from All Seas. When I showed it to Donna, she said she couldn't come close and suggested I book through All Seas. All Seas was still better even after the 10% discount and $200 credit.

This was for the 4/30 eastern in a cat 9.
