Does DAS run out for certain attractions or is late arrival ok?

We plan to stay at our hotel until after lunch most days. Do the popular rides run out of DAS? Or is it always just the wait time minus 10 min. For example at 5pm, might a popular ride be out of DAS? Or if the ride has a 90 min wait, the DAS would just be 80 min (so 6:20)?

Our hotel is AKL and we will not be using Disney transportation, in case anyone has any comments about AKL or parking that might help. We picked this hotel since there is so much to see at the hotel for the mornings.

As long as guests are allowed into the standby queue you can receive a DAS return time. Standby queues rarely close before park closing time so you’ll be fine. As a note, the current info about DAS indicates the return time will be comparable to the posted standby wait (no mention of minus 10 minutes).

I love AKL!!! It’s such a gorgeous resort! 😍

As for transportation- I would suggest driving yourself to AK, HS & EP, but taking the Disney buses to MK so that you are dropped off at its entrance (instead of parking at the TTC & then having to take a monorail/boat over to MK).

as another poster said I rethink driving to MK as you will have to take Disney transportation ie monorail or ferry from parking lot to the front gate and back ay end of night and DAS does not help you with this. also no parking lot trams at any Disney park right now

We mostly drive to the parks. The exceptions, when at BLT, we walk, and when staying on-site, we normally do take Disney Transport to MK...

Every once in a while I have been known to park at EPCOT, and monorail back to MK, but that is normally because we plan on finishing the night at EPCOT.

I would just like to clarify one thing here- this plan will only work (with today’s rules) if you have a park reservation for EP & don’t intend to go to MK until 2pm or later (when park hopping is allowed).

Technically, yes. But, as we have seen, the parking lot toll takers ask, but do not confirm you have a reservation. Their asking is more of a warning, the ultimate tester are the people at the turnstiles (or whatever we call them today).

So, you should be able to get into the parking lot, walk to and clear security, and then monorail over. However, with the caveat that EPCOT opens much later. May be something to do on arrival day, or a day when you are purposely starting later...

On my last trip in September I was never asked if I had a park reservation at any of the toll booths. They may not be doing it now that there’s more availability for reservations.

We were at WDW in June and were asked at the toll booth every time. Maybe not all CMs are asking??

interesting. Anyone know if the 10 minutes is still deducted when getting a return time through the Genie app? I always thought that was to compensate for the 5 to 15 min that you still have to wait in the LL line to be equitable with other guests. If the wait is 30 minutes in a regular line and I get a return time of 30 minutes but have to wait 10 min in the LL line to board then I’ve waited longer (40 min total) than a non DAS holder. I hope they haven’t taken that away.

What it said before was « based on current wait time. »

It now says « The return time will be comparable to the current standby wait. »

The 5 to 15 minutes was actually to help compensate for the time it would take to walk to the attraction, leave and come back, so I could see that being gone.
