Does Chef Mickey's serve lunch in August?

Does Chef Mickey's serve lunch in August? I wanted to go for Dinner on 8/17 but there is no availability. Do they have lunch then? I just called and was told that Chef Mickey's doesn't have lunch. But I thought I heard someone saying that they were going for lunch in August. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are arriving that day and didn't want to go to a park, however we want to go to a character lunch or dinner with our 2 boys.

For the last couple of years Chef Mickey's has served lunch on a special limited basis during the general public free dining offer period. You can't book it until Disney announces it's available.

Mostly you pay for the atmosphere at CM. The breakfast food was okay.

They did 2 years ago when we were there for free dining. We had an 11:20 breakfast reservation, which I believe was the last seating. By noonish, they had switched over one side of the buffet to the lunch food. We actually didn't feel rushed at all, but if I had known there was going to be a lunch (it was announced after we made our ADR), I probably would have gone for an earlier breakfast. The server told us to take our time, the characters were still coming around, but they weren't replenishing much on the breakfast side. They do keep all the lunch foods covered though, so you can't book a late breakfast hoping to eat both.

Mostly you pay for the atmosphere at CM. The breakfast food was okay.

1) Character meals at WDW have average food.
2) The purpose is to feed you, but give you characters.
3) Thus, you pay for the ambiance and labor, not the grub.
