Does Cash availabilty increase the closer to the travel date?

In other words, I have a 2 BR booked for 5 night at VGF. If I wanted a bungalow for 2 more night and I am out of points and wanted to pay cash but MS told me it wasn't available for cash. Can that change the closer to the dates I wanted?

Generally, no. At 60 days out, any units not booked on points can go into cash inventory, but those units would be available to you now on points. I would not expect availability to be any greater than what you see on RAT, for instance, and is likely to be much less.

There are times when units enter into inventory because a refurb is ahead of schedule or delayed, and so units held back come into inventory, but those usually go into points not cash, and only go to cash at 60 days.

Disney's revenue accounting team controls inventory and makes inventory available to the people who will pay the most money for it.
