In other words if you're an owner at AKL via resale or direct through disney - are you able to request kidani just as easily as jambo at 11 months out? Is it all just one big DVC resort as far as Disney is concerned?

yes. once your resale passes ROFR and you are a DVC member, there is no difference between a resale buyer and someone who bought direct.

yes. your reservation will specify whether you are in jambo or kidani - and certain room types are only available at each - but an owner at AKV has booking access to either building at 11 months.

I think the fact that Jambo opened quite awhile before Kidani is confusing to many. Yes, AKV is one big happy DVC resort family that happens to have two houses...Jambo and Kidani. The other confusing part is that you WILL be able to specifically reserve one or the other, and when you check in, you had better know which one you are reserved in.

Just like the other DVC resorts sold out portions at a time (I own a small protion of OKW, owned another portion of OKW different building but sold it), AKV was sold in portions. So Jambo House is AKV and Kidani Village is AKV. It's all one.
