Does BCV have Too Many Quality Problems

Our home resort is BCV and we stayed in a 1 Bedroom last week. And, I am glad to report that we did not have the disasters that have been discussed by others.

During our stay we needed to contact CM's 3 times during our stay for assistance (Valet Parking, request for extra pillows and arranging for our Luggage/Groceries Sent Up). I have to report that on each of these occassions a problem resulted:

1) Wrong car was sent up by Valet
2) Took one hour to deliver two pillows (after 2 calls)
3) Took one and 1/2 hours to deliver our luggage (after 2 calls)

Minor? Yes, but this is not service that delights.

As one poster pointed out we all hold WDW and DVC to a higher standard - and - well we should. If service was not an issue, then, my family could have saved money by staying at the Motel 8 Maingate once a year for the next 40 years.

I agree with many that this was a busy week. I have also seen many great reviews of BCV. Also, people dwell on negatives and not positives - this is human nature.

While I do not envision that these issues are indicative of a long term trend, I also know that these problems can only be corrected if DVC and Hotel management are told the problems exist. Thus, I would urge everyone to take the time to right these folks a letter.

Also, if these problems do continue, then, I would advocate that members of this board become pro-active in the solution. One thought is designating one member of the board as the "BCV Advocate". This person would poll members who have stayed at the resort. In this manner Customer Service success and failures could be identified. This person could act as a pipeline to DVC.

Maybe this is a bit extreme, but, I think we all have the same motivation in mind: Protecting our investment.

I would be very concerned about staying there let alone buying into BCV. Some of the things that have been reported here should never happen, some yes, but what concerns me the most it the attitude that may exist over at BC/BCV with the employees concerning people staying at BCV rather than BC. It would account for many of the compalints I have read here. Being treated like the "poor cousins" only seems to be reported about BCV, no where else, and amount of complaints on this board seem to be much more at BCV. AAA ratings while nice may be wrong when it comes to this resort. Ratings all depend on the source of those ratings, I am not familar with how they get their ratings. Let us keep in mind that the posters on this site only represent a small number of members, when you have a small sample to draw from, you do not always get the correct view of things, things could be better or worse than we read on the board. Who really knows?

I've stayed at BCV twice and have had no major problems. Nothing trip ruining for sure, and certainly none that I would consider to be a "quality problem" at the resort.

And finding a lightbulb out to me isn't even a problem. Big deal. They go out all the time. Do you want to pay extra maintenence fees for housekeeping to turn on every light in the place with every clean just to check for them? Not me. I would rather just report it and forget it when I find one out.

Having said that - I do think that everyone should be on the safe side and stay away from the AAA Four Diamond Resorts of BCV and BWV.

..you may want to send a copy of any letter you send complaining to DVC to AAA as well if you are a member...if DVC knew that their rating might be in jeopardy they might be a bit more motivated to keep things tip top...

We had a great week at BCV last year, but the jacuzzi in the room was not working. We called down, and they sent up someone, but it never did get fixed. Other than that, all was fine.
How does that make you feel about how your dues money is being spent? Do you feel like you're getting what you paid for? I personally never used the jacuzzi in our room, but with the money we're paying that thing had better work!

Overall we enjoyed our stay at BCV last October but did have a couple of minor complaints:

-ordered an extra day of full housekeeping service weeks before our arrival- never happened

-requested extra towels weeks before our arrival and mentioned it again at check in - had to hunt down a maid to get them

-our babysitter's room service tray sat outside our door for several days!

It seems to me that the bulk of our complaints had to do with the communication between DVC reservationists and the hotel.

We've stayed at BCV three times now and have never encountered a problem. our room has always been clean when we arrived. they have twice stored our refeigerated items without problem. We called and asked for a missing pan once and a new one arrived promptly.

When you look closely at some of the critical remarks they can be very subjective. What meets one persons standard of clean may not meet another. What some folks may find timely may seem like forever to someone else.

We tend to adopt the hakuna matata philosophy while on vacation.

We have stayed at BCV's a number of times and our trips have always been perfect!
Great rooms!
Great CM's!
Great housekeeping!

We love it!!::MickeyMo

We've had very good experiences during our two stays and I have no regrets at all about owning at BCV.

Our worst complaint (pretty minor) was a shortage of certain kitchen items. Instead of replacing them during our stay we were given paper/plastic equivalents.

But I think Pa@OKW95 may have a valid point. Although I have met some terrific CMs at the Beach Club, I suspect that some of the staff thinks of BCV as "second priority".

I agree with Desperado: BCV should be avoided by the rest of you folks whenever I need to make a ressie for my family. The same goes for the BWV Std view rooms, when I'm looking to save on points ;)
