Does anyone use a two-way radio at WDW?

I'm just curious (certainly not one of my more important questions) to know if anyone has packed these and used them with success. Seems like the way to go for folks that split up. Not everyone has a cell phone.

We brought them this past trip when my husband and our babysitter went on the thrill rides while we waited for them. This was during spring break so it was great because we could find out where each one was and not have a "planned" meeting time which doesn't always work.

Good luck!

we have used them in the past with mixed results. Sometimes there are too many people on the same channel and its hard to communicate. make sure to get the radios with the subchannels that gives you more combinations to play with and you will be able to find a channel not used by too many people.

We used Motorola T5950 on our last trip and it worked great. Took a few tries to figure out what we were doing but that's another story :teeth:

Everyone in our party had cell phones but I prefer a two way radio. An 'almost' instant connections, not having to dial was a nice change and reception was very good.

We picked up a set at OfficeMax for less than $30 and I think it's worth every penny.

We use them all the time and love them, just make sure you get a good pair with alot channels and subchannels that lock into place (so you make sure you stay on the same channel). We have motorla ones, I know they make dozens of different models, ours are blue and called "talk about". :flower:

Yep! Another Motorola Talkabout user here. We have used ours for several years now with success. Just pick a clear channel and subchannel and you will be fine. We prefer the radios to cell phones.

We have the Mickey shaped ones and use them every trip with no problems. :)

We just came back from a trip with 9 of us. 7 of us had Nextel phones, and the direct connect worked great.

We used the walkie talkies before, and that worked great too. Sometimes other people would overlap on the channel, but not too bad.

Have fun!!!

We use them as they are so handy to stay connected. We do pick up others conversations sometimes but we dont mind. :flower:

Yet another motorola talkabout user here! :)

There were 12 of us last trip and we had three sets of them. They worked out GREAT! And we had fun "playing" with them. The kids in our party just rolled their eyes. LOL

I say "get them!" I know I wouldn't go w/o mine again. ;)

We used them in April of 04 for our first time. DW lost hers :rotfl: but they did work when we had both. But we had people on the different channels. So for the rest of the trip, I still carried mine around and listened to the people. It was so cool to hear the different accents....

In December and from this time on we will take our cell phones. No charge to call each other....
