Does anyone think DVC needs a new theme

Okay I though NY was in the Eastern Section.

Northeastern is Ohio to Nebraska, Dakota areas (includes Wisconsin, Illinois, and a bunch of other states) or so I though?

then along the same line Wyoming,Idaho, Montana are NorthWestern.

while Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada - are Western....

okay it has been long.....time since I took geography.

If my interpretation is wrong please correct.

I have always thought a 'haunted house' theme would be awesome

That idea rocks.

Or even a villian hotel. All I am saying is it would be cool to have a little bit more variety in future hotels. When I heard they were going to do Eagle Pines next, I thought how boring another SSR, OKY golf course theme.

That said I love all of the current DVC properties!!

hey I am still hoping for the Cont - imagne what DVC could do with that design - I am thinking the Jetson's..... - round instead of square or rectangle....

EPCOT VILLAS !!!!!
What about it ?? Each area or section could be a different
theme or country. Each time that you stayed , you could visit a different part of the world. They could have an International Buffet
Restaurant. WOW !!! The WORLD SHOWCASE VILLAS !!!

I agree with One More Try. More offsites would interest me more than anything. There are, in my opinion, enough options on property and while HH and Vero sold at a slower pace....they still sold out. I'd like to see something in San Diego maybe, or New England.

Would you buy off-site as an add-on? Or are you only looking to have more off-site options where you can use your points?

For a DVC resort to be a good business proposition for Disney Vacation Development (DVD), they need to be able to sell it out in a reasonable amount of time. That wasn't the case at VB or HH. So, at this time, it seems DVD is leaving the general timeshare business to lodging companies such as Marriott, Starwood, and Hyatt, while DVD concentrates on WDW, where Disney owns almost unlimited land and where the Disney name, location, and resort guest base provide a real marketing advantage.

I only own off site. I use my 11 month window there. When it's time for me to visit WDW there are an array of options. So to answer your questions. Yes and Yes.

I'd like to see DVC at the Poly for the theme offered there. An alternative and maybe even better would be DVC at Typhoon Lagoon. I like the look and feel of Typhoon Lagoon and having the water park as you pool/playground would be GREAT.

I can picture the villas elevated a bit to afford views of the park from the oversized balconies featuring just a short walk to Castaway Creek. Of course admission to the park would be included for members and their guests staying in the villa. Villas would be sized similarly to OKW with Grand Villas being available for larger families.

For our needs this would be close to ideal.

Exactly what I think the original poster is pointing at, yes, they are all based on varying arcitecture, but, there's nothing very 'stand out' about the ones at WDW with the exception of VWL.
Well, I wouldn't have worded it exactly that way (in public). :p

Actually, I understand the OP, and since we enjoy "heavy theming", I would love to see an exotic theme. To me, I'd like to see

South Pacific (Polynesian style)
Caribbean (much higher end than CBR)

Given the success of AKL, I also think that the idea of different countries would be very well accepted. I'll pass on the UK Resort though if all the bathrooms are at the end of the halls! :earseek:

mic_KY_mouses

Thats my idea exactly or stay a night or two in each country.
Could be a place to have DVC food and wine festival.

How about...

Egypt

Nemo / Ariel Theme

Disney Villians

An entire resort based on Toy Story

Christmas - all year long.

Trains - Ties to Walt's love of Trains.

Space - (ie maybe update the contemporary towards this..)

A real "Haunted Mansion"

Just some that I think would be neat....

I beg to differ, Boardwalk is based off a turn of the century NEW JERSEY Boardwalk. BCV is based off a New England Style beach resort. So, there are VERY different themes and really only two that are similiar, three if you want to lump in HH with Vero and OKW.
Oh, come on....

New England style beach resort versus other style beach resort? The OP makes a good point. There could be greater diversity in the themes. Look a the different "themes" at Vegas, talk about diverse.

Ok, so how about some fun bringing up possible themes ---

Italian renassance
Venician
Ultra modern
Space theme
Old west ranch theme
Ancient greece
Cave theme
French theme
Castle

I think that if DVC gets a new theme it should be the theme of building more off-site resorts. Most people buying into timeshares don't want to visit WDW every year. If they want to keep expanding, they'll have to increase the options.

Great suggestion. I'd like to see more offsite resorts as well. I think one in the Washington DC area would be nice, what a great educational place to take the kids. The new hotel offerred there is beautiful, but I'll bet they want a ton of points for a nights stay.

Maybe around Lake Cumberland, in the Rocky Mountians, overlooking the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls or Heaven forbid near Disneyland. Geezzzzzze!

But how many of the "Las Vegas" themes last 50 years? I've seen 'em implode quite a few - both live and on tape - and seen quite a few others remodelled so much they they're unrecognizable. That - IMHO - is behind Disney's choices; they'll still be desirable in 50 years.

Ok so how about some lasting themes that are also diverse...

Everything Elvis....
A 70s theme..... I guess we already have the Contemporary....
I liked the train idea, that could be done nicely..
A Britney Spears theme.....???? wonder what that will look like in 40 years....
Hard Rock theme has been done....
Art Deco theme.....
Old Hollywood.....

I second the haunted mansion theme or a castle theme. Think of all the ideas that you could run with on these. You could do Belle's castle, for instance, non dvc members get the dungeon where the beast locked up Belle, dvc members get the suites!!!! That should be a hit!!!;)

I sort of see what you're saying, as many of them have a beachy/tropical theme, albeit maybe beaches from different parts of the country! A polynesian theme would be nice, but it would sort of be similar to the tropical theme.

I think a southwestern theme might be nice. We just did a quick weekend at Coronado Springs, and I just love that adobe look and how beautifully lit it is at night.

The Bavarian theme would be cute too.

I don't know how I'd feel about a futuristic theme personally. I have seen pics of the Contemporary's rooms (although I have never stayed there) and from the pics it doesn't appeal to me. Although if someone gave me a free trip to WDW staying at the Contemporary I'd suffer through it!;)

How about a resort with differently themed fantasy sections? Space, castle, dungeon, under sea, italian, etc. Isn't there a hotel somewhere like that (I know, probably in Vegas ;-) It could be fun, especially if you were surprised every time - couldn't reserve a specific "theme".

Actually, I love BCV - as soon as I see the place, I relax. And isn't that the point?
