Does anyone think 10 is a bit young for adult ticket?

I haven't read this entire post, but I agree that 10 years old is not an adult. However, I know quite a few 10 year olds that can eat more than me! Their metabolisms can be so fast at that age they can eat and eat and eat! (Lucky them) :goodvibes

I think its fine for Disney to start charging adult prices at 10. I mean they have to pick an age. Most ten year olds are tall enough and mature enough to enjoy most everything in the parks, so 10 works for me. I don't think there should be discounts for "juniors" or "seniors". Disney is plenty wonderful for everyone to enjoy at all ages and I think everyone should pay the same. Where would the money for these discounts come from? Should they raise the regular adult ticket by a couple of dollars so that they can discount juniors and seniors? I have no children. It's just DH and I. We only go to Disneyworld when we can afford to go. We don't expect Disney to make discounts available so our trip is more affordable. We know that to enjoy Disney we will need XXX amount of dollars and we wait to go until we can afford XXX amount of dollars. Disney is a business and they need to charge whatever they need to charge in order to run their business and provide the services we all want. I'm willing to pay that price to have such a wonderful place to visit.

Neither the dining nor the park ticket price any longer will affect us  , but the dining issue would've killed me if it had happened before DD turns 12 (in October). Our next trip is in December so I'd be paying adult dining price for her anyway, but my DD eats very little. At 10, it would've been highway robbery to charge us $23 for her mac & cheese. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about dining during future trips if her appetite doesn't change. I'd love to know if she would still be able to eat off the children's menu or not. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it pans out after July.

I can almost "accept" the ticket price considering my 12 1/2 yo DS does ride everything in the parks, as well as my almost 9yo DS and almost 8yoDD, but where I have a bigger problem is with the meals. Even though my 12 1/2yo is developing much more of an appetite, the adult meals are usually "too complicated" as he puts it. He still has a child's taste. Give him a grilled cheese or mac & cheese and he's happy (along with a side of cheesecake!! ). I would rather pay for extra helpings, such as two grilled cheese with the regular side order. On our most recent trip (just home a week ago), the cast members were still offering him the kid's menu, and some would give him the choice to choose.

When we were there in Feb 2005, my 10 yo son cried when he heard that he was an adult while his sister and cousins were still children. I had to promise him that I wouldn't show anyone his ticket because he to;d me he still wanted to act like a child!!

There have been a few posts on the DIS boards that indicate new policy is to charge double-price for people over 9 eating from the kids menu at a table service restaurant (not buffet/character meal). Some say that it is for a slightly larger serving and some say that the serving is the standard kids menu size.

I haven't been there lately and don't know official policy. When we were there last (May 2004), my 13 year old was allowed to order from the kids menus in a couple of places for the same price as my younger two (then the dining age was 12 and under). I told the waiter/waitress his age and that he would prefer the kids menu, and they were fine with that.

I guess I might be wrong then because I hadn't seen any of those posts.
Our last trip was in early April, so I know at that time it was not changed.

Going to WDW or any theme park for that matter, is a privledge, not a right. If you don't like it don't go. :goodvibes

Tough said, but true.

I don't have a problem with age 10 as adult price.... I DO however have issues with our Six Flags (over Texas) charging adult price for anyone 48" or taller. They can't even ride all the rides since some require you to be taller than that! (all the newer rides that ofcourse most kids want to ride- but can't... yet you're paying the adult price!

I do have issues with the charging as adult for meals/dining at age 10.. that's ridiculous IMO. They still want child type food at that age and the MAJORITY at that age don't eat as much as adults. :(
