I was thinking of getting a 4 ft Xmas tree, and a few decs especially to take next year (I know its a long way off, but I'm excited and planning already)
Does anyone else do it ?
:p :p :p

When we were there for Xmas, the villa that we stayed in provided all that we needed, tree and all the decorations.

we are going to be there Dec 5-15th next year, and I don't think we will have decorations, but if we were there over Christmas then I would probably buy some out there - I would expect you could get a little tree at Walmart pretty cheaply.

When we went for Xmas 1992 at a private villa, we bought loads of decs and a mini Xmas tree at Publix and Walmart on Xmas Eve at ridiculous knockdown prices - a box of tree lights were 99 cents! I think we spent about 25 dollars in total and me and my mate put up the decs Xmas Eve when the children were in bed - it looked fantastic and the look on the childrens faces Xmas Morning was magic. We also bought a fresh turkey etc and the wives cooked a fabulous meal (the only time we have ever cooked our own meal abroad) - what with swimming in the private pool, opening the presents etc it was a perfect day. We didn't do a theme park that day - it was just great having a traditional Xmas but in Florida!

We'll be there next Chrimbo and our little room will defo be decorated. Tastefully, of course ;)

I'll probably be wearin me Santa hat all day too- I love December!!!!

we intend to make an early stop at walmart to take advantage of the excellent xmas lights and hopefully a nice tree for our room at OKW. Last time we were there nearly everyone had trees and lights on their balconies so DH sees this as a challenge!!

we bring the lights home - as cheap as I have ever seen lights - and plug them into a 110 transformer to use over here. I'm sure DH is trying to create his own osborne lights ... purchases last year included ribbon lights, swags and pathmarkers - what will he get this year !!!

disney will get you a xmas tree delivered to your room fully dec'd but they are hideously expensive and I think it is more fun to do your own.

Another thing we got was a make your own xmas tree pack for our 6yr old DD. We got it from the ELC. It is cardboard with paper decorations that the kids can colour in and cut out.

You know the lights have gotten so ridiciously cheap. When we pull out our lights and find some strings not working, I chuck them and go buy new ones. We used to spend hours testing them and replacing the bulbs. I just bought a 50-light strand for $1.75 and that's regularly priced. I guess they're making them in China or something.

You can order a decorated tree from Disney, but it costs an arm and a leg.

I'll just wait until we get there and go to Walmart, rather than taking my own if they're that cheap.
We're staying in a townhome at Emerald Island Resort, and I doubt it will be already decorated, so i'll have to do something to make it a bit Chritsmasy :p

i just had to drop you a line to tell you about our xmas decs - i am sitting in my room at okw looking at a real 6ft tree which we got at walmart for $15 - we have baubles on it (14 for $1.97) and 450 lights $5. I am in decoration heaven - oh and it also has the wdw bauble set from the magic kingdom slightly more expensive at $32 for 5 but they are so good that I couldn't resist.

happy holidays everyone.

Hello,

I had lost this site as I had to change computer's and I am still trying to trace everything that I lost...........thanks to a wonderful person I have found this site again and hope to be a regular visitor again;)

Back to lights and decorations for Christmas, we are spending next Christmas (2003) at our villa ourselves for the first time, I will certainly be out buying lots of lights and decorations.

I know of lots of other home owners, who especially go to their villa at the begining of December just to put the decorations and lights up just for the enjoyment of their guests. They then either go back after the New Year (any excuse to get to Florida) or ask their maintenance agents to take these down and pack them away.

If you are staying in a private villa for the festive season, why not ask the villa owner if they put decorations up:confused:

I was just flicking through to see what was happening on the DIS and you've really got me excited DH and I only said a couple of days ago that we would like to go to the world for Christmas, I would love to decorate the room or villa and I bet walmart would have some brilliant bargains- they always do. You have now inspired me to do our calculations and maybe get booking for Chrimbo next year that would mean we could get to wdw hols in in 9 months ahhhhh bliss!!!!!!!!
