If you do, can you tell me your symptoms, and what treatment your doctor suggested?

Thanks!

I'll post them so it can help others.
First you can have Pco and not have cysts! Scarry huh

I am of that case.
Cycles no where normal
Trouble conceiving 2 1/2 yrs for the 1st child and conceived on an 84 day cycle. Second child also conceived on an 84 day cycle but started trying at the beginning. not really connecting the 2.
Can't lose weight with out help.
Hair falls out/thins out
increase in acne
Painful period
mood swings
type 2 diabeties

Theres alot more too but these are mine. My biggest suguestion is to talk to an ob/gyn, depending on age and child bearing status she had different treatments. I also have migranes (not all the time but when I get them I don't function) I am now on a varity of drugs. Mircette for BC and migranes because mine are triggered by estrogen drop and this has estrogen in the normal off week, Metformin (glucophage) helps control sugar and helps with weight loss (they are also using it instead of clomid) and regulates cycles, sprinolactone for the hair and acne caused by increased androgen levels.
It's been easy to treat and she left it up to me as to how aggressive I've wanted to be.
any more ?'s I'm glad to help

Diagnosed with mild insulin resistance after 3 1/2 years of fertility treatments.

Treated with Glucophage for 3 weeks and found out I was pregnant. I was able to conceive on my own the second time.

Symptoms were ovarian cysts, no cycles and weight gain.

I have lost a significant amount of weight and have been taking birth control pills since my second pregnancy so I am not sure how things would be now.

Good luck to you.

I was diagnosed during some unrelated abdominal surgery. I was already on birth control pills & the doctor said that's probably why I had not shown any symptoms. I still take the Pill but insurance pays for it since they are now "medically necessary" to control my PCOS. :D

If anyone has anymore information to share will you please PM me or post. I have a friend who was just diagnosed with this last week. She is having trouble conceiving, also and would appreciate any of your experiences, suggestions, etc. Thanks so much!

Melanie

Thank you all for your responses and PMs (It may take me a day or two to reply to them all). I sincerely appreciate those of you who have taken the time to share your story with me. I don't feel so alone now. Thank you again! :grouphug:

Denae ~ you lost weight on the pill? My dr's are recommending that, but I haven't started yet ... was really sure about it, but if you lost weight I am certainly going to try!

Did your other symptoms improve?

Thanks!

I've also lost weight on the pill, down 35 lbs now. I take Yasmin, which has a mild diaretic to help with water retention when taking the pill. My other symptoms seem to be kept in check, with the exception of acne. I see the dermatologist to control those, and that does help there!

Yes, I lost weight on the pill (55 lbs) . I take ortho tricyclene which controls the acne VERY WELL!

My insulin resistance was mild so I didn't experience any symptoms other than non-existent cycles, weight gain and ovarian cysts.

I went back to my RE last year complaining that I could not lose weight. He re-tested my insulin resistance and said my levels were o.k. now so the pill must be doing what it is supposed to. Then when I really made the committment to lose weight, I did.

Good luck to you. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Denae
