One of my favorite sentimental topics
got married, used white lights, coordinated bows and ornaments, etc., thought tinsel was tacky.
many years later we were trying to conceive and thinking about adoption, so I decided that if we were going to have a child in our home someday, we should have a tree that had that magical childlike feel to it like we had when I was little
got the old fashion big bright bulbs, candycanes and tinsel and put this angel on the tree that dh got me that was a little guady with her pink and lace dress that lighted up, but I didn't care. I knew it was exactly how a child would expect a christmas angel to look like.
after the tree was up, my mom called me and said while shopping, she ran into her old neighbor and "you've got to meet with her, she has 3 adopted kids and 2 foster children!" We made arrangements and one of her little girls looked exactly like my angel! When I put the Christmas decorations away that year, I was completely at peace because I knew in my heart that next year I would be a mom, and I was.
with the neighbor's help we signed up for the parenting classes, got licensed and ds came home that spring.
We are celbrating our 4th Christmas together with tons of tacky tinsel, bright colored lights and one beautiful guardian angel.
Thanks for letting me share. I tried to capture it...
