Does anyone request an older blg/lower floor at WBC?

I keep reading about people requesting blgd. 6 and higher floors at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. However, when I look at the map and photos, I think we'd prefer a pool view in the older/shorter buildings. (We don't care about a fireworks view.) Are the older buildings really that old?

We have stayed 3 times and another 3 weeks this August (cant wait). We have always requested and got the main building. We originally asked for this as we wanted to be guaranteed a low floor. During many fire safety talks at work, we are always told not to stay in a high rise hotel as firemans ladders do not go up high. Thats good enough for me. Also worry about balconies where children are involved but thats just me being paranoid.
Anyway, turned out we loved the main building as it has a hotel feel and right by main pool and other activities. The first 2 years we had pool view but last year we had firework view which was great.

Thank you! I like a hotel feel, so I think I'll request main bldg, pool view and hope for the best!

No, there is nothing wrong with them. The newer buildings are, well, newer, but the older buildings are still quite nice. It's not even clear that the newer ones are necessarily "better"------if I recall correctly, the older buildings also have the better whirlpool tubs rather than the newer bubbler-only ones. Part of the problem is that here on DIS (and similar places) everyone suddenly decides that unless they have the very best thing possible their vacation will be ruined. But, not everyone can be in building six, and not everyone can have an upper-floor view of Epcot.

For example, I just got back from a stay at VWL. I was on the "bus side" not the "lake side". Did I sometimes hear a little bus noise? Yes. Did it ruin my vacation? No.

I should have also said that when we were there last year in main building, the rooms had been renovated from the year before. 3 flat screen TV's. (I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but when you are there for 3 weeks its nice to crash and have a tv each sometimes!) New granite work tops. New sofa bed, my husband had to sleep on it one night and he said it was best sofa bed he had ever slept in. All newly painted. It was nice before but even nicer this time.

I dont know about the main building but tower 1 has been refurbished with new furniture, tvs, and granite countertops. The parking lot side/golf course view is great. I was disappointed when we realized the carpet was soaked and had to move. Our concern about lower floors (ground or 2nd) is safety, noise and concrete view. I've never lived in an apartment on the basement/ ground floor for the safety reason. I dont like ground floor for hotels either and avoid them if I can.

I would say towers M, 1, 2 and 3 are good for families with young ones. It seemed like all the toddler pool stuff is located near there. It's also easier/faster to find a parking spot during peak times.

What I discovered about tower 6 involves it being connected to the hotel and their indoor bar:-) While I was there, it was a bit too chilly sitting outside at escudos after dark.

Every tower/floor has their neg and pos but all (minus tower 3 til the end of the month) the units are fab. It just depends on who you are and what your priorities are. Anything beats being crammed into a disney hotel room for a week.

Sounds good! My mom will be staying back in the resort room a few days when the rest of our group is at IOA and the WPs. I thought she'd appreciate having a pool view so she can people watch while we're gone.
