Does anyone rent out points?

Hi - just hoping for some advice.

I took the SSR tour last year, loved it and am seriously considering whether to buy in to DVC - but am trying to persuade my husband that it would be a good buy. I would love to mainly use it ourselves but my husband says he doesn't want to go every year so I was wondering about the logistics of renting out points. For example, the dues on SSR of $4.12 a point seem to be (at the present exchange rate) about £310 for 150 points. However on the American DVC boards, rentals appear to be going for about $10 a point (about £5 a point). Therefore , if I rented out the points, I could get about £750, minus the £310 I would have to pay for the dues - so would make about £440 if I wasn't able to use my points that year. I appreciate that this is with the exchange rate that it is at the moment which won't stay the same. I know this isn't the reason for buying in to DVC but was wondering if it could make financial sense if we weren't able to use the points.

Does this sound right? Does anyone else do this and if they do, how easy is it to rent out the points??

We are hoping to rent out our points next year. We have bought a holiday home in Spain and are unlikely to find time to get out to Orlando so it looks like we will rent out for a year or even until our 13 year old dd leaves school. We have 520 points.

I have done an exchange to devon on points and a visit to disneyland paris and this year even using points to go on a disney cruise so you can use your points at other resorts.
