Didn't Capt Kangaroo also have this song:

"And you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true. And the pictures, pictures take me flying....."

Now that's going to be stuck in my head!!!
Jenny :)

Ah Simon and the land of chalk drawing! How about the Toothbrush Family?

"Brush your teeth, round and round, circles small, gums and all. A small soft toothbrush, the round and round way, will keep your teeth healthy and stop tooth decay. So clean very carefully, 3 times a day, go round and round."

I sang that to my daughters when they were little and learning to brush their own teeth, and I still do it for my 4 year old son!

I also remember Captain Kangaroo, Zoom, and definitely The Electric Company!! In fact, The Electric Company was one of my favorite shows growing up!!! :thumbsup2

By the way, for all of you that also grew up with The Electric Company and really enjoyed it, there's going to be a Best of The Electric Company DVD coming out Feb. 7!!!!! :cheer2: Just thought I'd let you know!!!!! :woohoo:

Ooh I remember picture pages, it would come on Nickelodeon (I think) where I watched my favorite cartoons:
Belle&Sebastian
David the Gnome
Lost Cities of Gold
as well as my FAVORITE game shows:
FindersKeepers
Double Dare

TOV

I would LOVE to have a tape of this show...but am I misremembering that it was "The Mysterious Cities of Gold"?

Fluppy Dogs!!!! I had forgotten all about those!

I'll really show my age - does anyone remember Kuckla, Fran and Ollie ?

anyone remember the little short cartoon they showed between some of these shows in the 70's "the most important person in the whole wide world" (...is you and you hardly even know you")?

"And you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true. And the pictures, pictures take me flying....."

I remember that song and I remember almost all these shows! I feel like Im reliving my childhood!

Does anyone remember the show called Joya's Fun School? It might have only been on in the NY /NJ area. There was this one part where you would hear the sound of horse hooves and someone would say"Here comes MR. Mixup" and then they would show a felt board with puzzle pieces all mixed up.Why that sticks in my head is beyond me!

I don't think it was Capt. Kangaroo..I'm pretty sure it was on some other show, but I remember the words to the song perfectly. IIRC, the name of the cartoon was Simon and the Land of Chalk. The boy, Simon, had to climb over a ladder perched up against a wall to enter the Land of Chalk.

*ETA to correct the lyrics. Seems I DIDN"T remember them perfectly, BUT I found a place that has them listed as:

Well you know my name is Simon,
and the things I draw come true,
Oh the pictures take me, take me over,
Climb the ladder with you.

Well you know my name is Simon,
and the things I draw come true,
Oh the pictures take me, take me over,
Climb the ladder with you.

ETA2* I found more info on the mysterious Simon and the Land of Chalk here

I wonder if anyone besides me remembers The Puzzle Place? It was a show with puppets from different places and also a cat and dog, both puppets too. This was on about 10 years ago when my son was small and I though that it was so cute.

Captain Kangaroo was my show was I was little. :goodvibes

"i love my mom and my dad and my brother too-and the groovy way we get along, but whenever the slightest thing goes wrong-mom starts to sing this familiar song 'wait till your father gets, until your father gets, wait till your father gets home".

that was a pretty racy cartoon for it's day (premarital sex, birth control-remember the episode where the dad fixes the daughter up with an 'appropriate date'-the daughter comes home with her mini skirt and blouse torn from fighting the guy off?).

I am sure everyone from Iowa, if you are old enough, remember Floppy and Betty Lou and the house with the magic window.

Goodness, I can't believe I remember some of those shows. lol

Anyone remember when USA channel used to have a kids club?

Ohhhh... and maybe someone can help me out. What is the kid show (I think it was on PBS), it had a weird looking lady who reminded me of Lady Elain Fairchild from Mister Rogers, and she'd say something like "Gooseneck..gooseneck...." Am I just tripping?

Yes, I certainly do remember Puzzle Place. Do a search on ebay...I recently saw some of the old dolls and Sizzle and Nuzzle on there. I can't remember all their names - Kiki and Ben are the ones that come to mind. My daughter had all the dolls and just recently we were talking about them. We reget giving them away...
