I was thinking of buying "The Blues Brothers" movie for my soon to be 13 year old for her birthday because she LOVEs Aretha Franklin's "Think." Then I saw that it is rated R. I only saw it once in a theatre...the other times have been on TV, when anything R rated would have been edited out. Does anyone remember what gave it an R rating? Is it language?

Yes, it is language related. Particularly how they refer to nuns. :)

Don't they also hate the "freakin" nazis? When the nazis came to town last weekend DH and I kept saying that, although we didn't go to the rally and run anyone down like Jake and Elwood.

I seem to remember a drug reference or too as well.

I just recently saw the DVD and I would think by today's standard it would be pg13.

Definitely R for the language and lots of major car crash scenes. My parents were very strict, but they took us to see it in the theatre when it came out and we were like 13 or 14. They just told us not to repeat the language. ;) It's a great movie! Very funny and fabulous music.

the drop the f bomb a few times and drugs...would still be R today
