Bumping this after I saw it pop up in suggestions. YES...I remember watching the movie when it premiered on ABC back in 97. I've got the DVD and apparently there was a novelization of it as well.

As others have said, it's good "comfort food". It may be on the level of Power Rangers in terms of cheesiness and acting, but it's a lot of fun and provides more of a "who" for when you get to the ride.

Regarding the 1939 party...I'd go and I'd play lead trombone in the orchestra at the Tip Top Club!!

Follow up question, if WDW did a 1930's era party like in the movie (in honor of the ride), would you attend?

It would great if Disney hosted the ball in one of its grand ballrooms in the Grand Floridian/Disneyland Hotel. They could easily temporarily decorate the ballroom to look similar to the Tip-Top club party room. The dance of the era was swing dancing and other well known dances that are still taught today. Big band music was common and was the type of music played in the opening scene. Disney could easily find a band that could play that type of music live. Seriously, why hasn't Disney ever tried to do an event like this before?

Well, they had a setup for Jollywood Nights last year themed to the Tip Top Club but heard it was disappointing, just outdoors of ToT with a couple of themed things from what it looked like

Easy to fix. Make an adults only 1939 big band Tip Top Club swing dancing party at their large ballrooms decorated (era costumes required), include a meal package (ex. Brown Derby) and charge a reasonable ticket (Disney version of reasonable) and have a great adult safe fun night. Disney could hire swing dance instructors to teach guest how to do the basics and then show off some of the more advanced dance moves.

Kind of weird that Disney made a movie out of an attraction that itself was based on a series that aired on ABC’s rival network CBS.
