We put out balcony lights for Halloween at BWV and OKW and for Christmas at SSR. We found battery operated lights and used those. We had so much fun doing it and it looked great. Alot of rooms had lights on their balconies but I have read that it really isn't allowed.

We did when were there during the holidays at OKW.

It was kind of neat as several others did the same.

Yes, both inside and out (at least during the holidays). This was from Christmas last year.

Where did you find that adorable Mickey ? I have never seen one of those before.

We have stayed at the CR for the past 9 years for Christmas and have 2 rooms joining facing MK and put colored lights on both balconies. Our rooms are right in line with the Christmas tree out front. I use a timer to keep them on until morning and the monorail CMs say they look forward to seeing them each night and early morning when they get started.:3dglasses

I've seen your light for the last 4 years...:worship: You must stay through New Years too because sometimes I don't arrive until then and have seen them....

We got it last year at K-Mart when we went to buy an artificial tree for the room. My daughter talked me into buying it. Mickey was out in our home display this year.

We were there this past Dec.. First week was in a 2BR at OKW and second week was in a studio at BCV. We put lights on our balcony in both rooms. There was an outlet outside at OKW, but as someone mentioned, no outlet on the balcony at BCV. Just make sure you bring an extension cord. Hanging the lights made coming "home" really nice at the end of the day and it was great seeing lights on other balconies too.

It's the electrical extension cord that causes us not do this. I think OKW has an outlet outside for 1-2 bedrooms, but at the BWV or VWL there aren't any. During December we string the lights over the drapery rod and leave the drapes open. I wouldn't want to leave our slider opened to accomodate the cord.

the palmetto bugs don't need an open door invite;)

buzz kill alert-sorry, - i worry about somebody's lights malfunctioning & causing overheating/danger of fire:confused3, sure hope the circuits r designed to handle lots of extra oomph

think the battery powered ones r the way to go

We will be heading to VWL for Thanksgiving. We will brin a couple sets of icicle lights to go possibly on the balcony. Does anyone bring lights for their balcony at any other time of the year?:goodvibes

I have always wanted to do this and for the first time last December I did. we were at SSR. I bought some cool LED lights and ran an extension cord into the room from the balcony. I obviously could not lock the door and it was open probably an 1/8" but it was December and the weather was cool.

We will normally leave 3-4 days after new years.

I just purchased 2 sets of solar christmas lights from grandinroad.com from the clearance section. Hopefully they work as I will be bringing them with me to BLT in December. Susan

All of these posts gave me an idea to decorate our balcony when we stay at THV. We will be there opening day and maybe this will be a way to celebrate our "coming home". I'm sure the kids will love it!

Hey mjfox!

It's a pleasure to meet the folks who have given our kids such joy for the past 5 years! We come down each December and see your lights! Our boys (ages 10 and 6 now) wonder each time 'will those people with the lights be there this year?'

Thanks for inspiring us! We've brought lights for Halloween and Christmas becuase we started seeing yours!
