Curious if your shih tzu sheds at all? Considering getting one but do not want a shedding dog. I currently have a Shih Poo and he does not shed at all. Could be the poodle in him though.

Mum has a Shih Zhu, Yorkie, Bichon cross. No shedding from him.

Yes, he will shed. That is why your last dog was mixed with a poodle. Poodles are the only dogs that do not shed.
I have a Shih Tzu / poodle mix. Our dog is very easy going, never barks. But he hates walking, very stubborn. His breed tends to gain weight very easy, so he gets walked twice a day. The more we keep his routine the better he is. We also take him to a dog day care once a week to play with other dogs. Otherwise he would sleep his life away.

I have a shih tzu/bichon mix. Does not shed AT ALL. My other dog is a yorkie mixed with something else (we don't know) that sheds minimally, but the shih tzu mix is totally non-shedding. awesome dog

I have a mix. I don’t know what he’s mixed with but he barely sheds. It’s a huge plus.

We have the same type of dog and she is awesome. Doesn’t shed at all, rarely barks, and is so damn cute. She doesn’t get into anything, doesn’t eat anything she’s not supposed to, and loves to cuddle and go for walks. She does need to be groomed about every 6 weeks though but I feel like that’s a small price to pay for no shedding.

Some dear friends have one - Percey - and he is the sweetest little poppet ever!

Your dog looks exactly like my dog, they could be twins (which isn't shocking considering they are the same mix, but I've seen others with completely different coloring than mine or quite a bit larger). They really are fabulous dogs. Although I will say mine is mischievous with getting into stuff. All food needs to be kept out of her reach, she snuck into my daughters room and got sick on her Easter candy one year, and has gone exploring through my things in my room too and ate some snacks out of a bag I had packed for travel. But she is very smart with learning tricks and is well behaved in other ways. And just so darn cuddly. Her fur is as soft as a fleece blanket and she loves to be right near us always

Shih Tzu dogs are listed as a no shed breed on everything I've read on non shedding dogs.

I have a 14 yo Shih Tzu. He does not shed.

Their fur is SO soft - like a teddy bear. Requires regular grooming but worth it!

I am considering getting a puppy from a friend. I just want to make sure it won't be shedding hair in the house. I had a Jack Russel Terrier before that shed awful. It was so bad I couldn't keep up with the hair. I now have a 7 year old Shih Poo (shih tzu/ poodle) and the only part of him that sheds (very lightly) is his tail but I keep it short. Just not sure what the Shih Tzu hair is like.

Shi Tzus do not shed. Most long haired, lap dog breeds don’t.

My parents have had them for decades. They don’t shed but they need to be groomed regularly. They’re high maintenance little buggers IMO. They tend toward eye, ears, teeth and back problems.

We have 2 pooches we rescued - a pure bred shihtzu and a shihtzu/Lhasa Apso mix. Jiko, the shihtzu, doesn’t shed at all. Mickey, the mix, doesn’t seem to either . I am allergic to dogs and I don’t have trouble with these guys. They have so much personality and have won us over to the shihtzu breed.

We got our Shih Tzu, Jackson, from Santa last Christmas. He's the best addition to our family, and we adore him tremendously. He does not shed, and we got him for that reason. My husband and I had a black pug, and though we loved her dearly, she shed SO much that it turned us off of another pug for life. We had to keep lint rollers in all of the cars and all over the house to mitigate the shedding.
