does anyone on here have their navel pierced?

If so, I'm getting mine done for my birthday.

Well my mom said it's okay, but I still have to talk to my dad. But if all goes well and he says yes, then I'll be getting it done probably in August.

If you have one, what are the pro's and con's of getting a belly button pierced?

I think they look really cute, almost all of my friends have it done. Some say it hurts & some say it don't. Guess it all depends on your pain tolerance.

The whole piercing process is really quick though. When I was getting my tattoo, there was some chick who came in and got it done. She was in and out within 3 minutes.

I heard that too, you have to to A LOT of cleaning to it. And it's suppose to take at least four months to heal, thats why I'm going to wait until August so it'll be healing through out the fall and winter.

I don't have one, but my friend got hers pierced back in October when she turned 18. I was going to go with her to get it done, but I was busy the night she went. She said it didn't hurt too bad, but the next couple of days it was really sore. She cleaned it like crazy so it wouldn't get infected.

It depends on how much fat you have on your stomach. If you are super skinny, it's gonna hurt a lot more than if you have some fat on you.

And it does get infected easily. I don't have mine done, but a bunch of my friends do and theirs were almost always infected when they first got it pierced.

Yeah you have to be super vigilent (sp?) about keeping the piercing clean. Using the alcohol 3x/day, and not letting it get caught on clothing, ect.

There are so many horror stories that I've heard from people, that I've actually chickened out.

well good news, mine is peirced!
so heres some answers to some questions

Q: Does it hurt?
A: NO! getting it done does not hurt! HOWEVER, afterwards it sore for a long long time [like 6 months]

Q: What's it like getting it done?
A: You go into a room, and they clean your naval. You pick out a ring and they mark where they are going to pierce it and ask if thats ok for you. Then, they lay you down on a table and tell you to breathe in [i think, it may be out, not too sure] Anwyays as you're breathing, they put it through you. It just feels like someone pulling something through your body. Its very freaky, but it doesnt hurt [at least it didnt for me]

Q: Will it get infected?
A: Here's a bad part. Mine got infected like twice. I cleaned mine ALL THE TIME. I used the stuff they gave me for the shower and the spray. The first time it wasn't too bad, but it hurt. But the second time I got like a bump next to it and it started bleeding and it was so nasty and ugh. It hurt alot too. But that was during the healing process, which is about 6 months. Since then, I have never had it infected again, and I don't clean it [which i probably should lol].

afterwards, you might feel queasy. i did. my eye site was going kinda weird and i was like 'whats going on.' don't worry if it happens to you, its totally normal. they told me sometimes guys faint from tatoos. they of course were professional and sat me down and gave me water and some pill thing to chew that was supposed to help.

ok pros and cons

good part about it:
-its so cute! i love it! all my friends are jealous haha
haha um its mainly a look thing so i dont think there are any other pros, kinda like any other peircing, its just there for looks

bad parts:
-it can get infected
-the healing process is the BIGGEST pain in the world, you cant sleep on your stomach and even sitting can hurt. it you get hit in your stomach, even lightly, it hurts. its VERY sensitive during the healing process, but once the healing process is over, you're good to go

those are the only bad things ive had happen

anyways, if you get it done, MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN IT
they will prob give you a spray to carry around
CARRY IT ALWAYS
im not sure why mine got infected, but oh wells lol its over and done

if yours does get infected though, DONT TAKE IT OUT
i read somewhere that taking it out can just make the infection stuck inside the hole after the peircing closes up
plus you'll prob regret taking it out, but if it does get bad, go to a doctor
but if it helps, i didnt go to a doctor and mine was horribly gross and looked aweful
i still continued cleaning it and looked up what to do and it eventually healed

and lastly, heres some tips i remembered:
dont wear tight clothes during the healing process
be very careful around the area and clean it regularly


honestly, the healing process is the ONLY thing you have to worry about, and that all depends on how your body reacts to it, theres tons of different stories and you'll never know until you experience it for yourself

and after it heals, it pretty much become a part of your body and you totally forget its there sometimes lol

i totally recommend getting it peirced to anyone if your parents let you
[honestly my dad doesnt know but oh wells lol my mom was totally for it and thats not the only peircing my dad didnt know about, i also got my cartolidge done but he saw it one day. wasnt too upset about it but the belly button would be a different story so it remains a secret...lol]

one more thing, i also got mine done around august
good idea, but if you can, i recommend getting it sooner
the reason why is because its REALLY sore at first, so you don't wanna have to deal with being in school and having it really hurt
i was fine though in august cuz i had a few weeks to get used to it so you should be fine too, but its just something to think about
