Does anyone not like OKW?

We were thinking of staying at Old Key West or Coronado,
but we really wanted to try OKW. Are there any drawbacks
to this resort?

I personally haven't stayed at either but from what I know Coronado has a cool pool.
If that's important to you don't know.
But otherwise I think it's about a push either way.

I've stayed at both several times and would choose OKW over CSR any time. OKW is very spread out, but very quiet. The rooms are huge! The biggest I've ever seen. We had a 2 bedroom last year and it's larger than some people's home. (Over 1,200 sq ft). CSR is nice and they have a food court, something that OKW does not have. A studio at OKW is very big and has a kitchenette w/microwave, frig w/freezer, coffee pot and toaster. I would go back to both, but if I had a choice it would be OKW.

First a disclaimer - you'll notice from my screen name that I Love OKW.

Having said that, some people think OKW is too spread-out and unless you get a unit near the hospitality house you'll feel stranded. But you'll find that no matter where you are at OKW, there is a pool and a bus stop near by. Bus service to the parks is no worse than any other resort (including CSR) but if you have a car you'll find parking practically in front of your unit to be a real convenience.

We like the laid-back, away from it all feeling of OKW. You can really get away from the hustle of the parks and just relax.

The OKW resort is very nice, and like a previous poster said, the rooms are very large (which is a very nice plus). But, from our experience (we stayed about there about 3-4 years back in a newly renovated building right at the entrance of the resort in a 1 bedroom villa) we found it to be nice. It was very relaxing and quiet. My personal opinion, though, is that it's somewhat out of the way from everything and it's almost too quiet. I like to go out at night sometimes and just stroll around or maybe just walking around stores so the BW is fantastic for that, but the OKW was just sort of "eh" for us. We would stay again based on the fact that rooms were very nice and the resort itself is also nice, but as far as being close to a lot and having stuff go on at night, you may want to look elsewhere.

Honestly, I think it depends on your tastes and what your family is looking for.

My group (all adults) love OKW. We all liked that it is quiet. We didn't find it too spread out, a little walking is good for a person! And my group, mostly young adults in their 20's, loved this place better than any other they have tried, even though they go to DTD and PI every night. They didn't mind the travel time in exchange for the relaxing privacy they felt while at the resort.

The balconies alone make up for a lot of things. We spent a lot of time out on those balconies and loved every second of it.

Guess I'll be the oddball. I disliked Old Key West. You can see the resorts I've stayed at in my signature, and OKW was my least favorite. A lot of people like to leave the parks and leave Disney behind them. I don't. If I didn't want to go to Disney World, I wouldn't go. We stayed there for 5 nights in a studio, and I'd never do it again. WAY too spread out. Port Orleans is spread out, but not as much as OKW. Don't get me wrong - It's a nice resort. I just don't care for the "not at Disney feel".

What your saying is true if you are comparing OKW to Boardwalk. However, if you are comparing OKW to CSR, then that is different. Neither OKW or CSR is about nightlife, although both have lounges and full service restaurants. And OKW is a short boatride to DTD which is all about nightlife. They are both spread out resorts with lots of grounds and a very quiet feel. However, I prefer the tropical theming of OKW and the units have more to offer than the rooms at CSR. You will have a balcony at OKW, a microwave and queen size beds at the OKW studios. At CSR you don't have a balcony, microwave, and the beds are double size.

I prefer OKW to CSR. CSR does have the food court which is nice. However OKW has the larger units, is a lovely boatride away to DTD, and has a wonderful main pool area that is not second best to CSR's pool area by any means. OKW is a deluxe level resort, CSR is a moderate.

You cannot make a bad choice in the end but I have to say I do prefer OKW.
