After many years of reading threads about which park is your least favorite - I don't ever recall anyone saying MK was their least favorite.

Is there anyone here who would prefer to skip MK altogether? If so, why? :)

We had a Disney wedding in December. We found that a number of our extended family members decided to skip it becuase of the crowd size and the attractions just weren't as appealing as Epcot or MGM. It was about 4-6 couples.

MK remains our favorite.

:crazy2: :scared:  :faint: The utter horror. I can't imagine.

I have favorite attractions in ALL the parks...some for different reasons...more action at Studios, education/"sightseeing" at Epcot..and the list goes on.....BUT if you told me I could only visit 1 park..MK is it. I am a 41 yr old dad of 3, the youngest now 8, but the "magic" of MK never goes away....even my teenage son still gets a kick out of a quick character visit, before hitting the mountains. This is the place for seeing wide eyed kids (and moms/dads) at every turn experiencing what WDW is all about !! :thumbsup2

We just returned from our very first trip yesterday. With two kids ages 5 and 6 who don't particularly like rides, AK and Epcot were much better for us. My kids love learning and don't really like costume characters (although they love princesses), and MK was full of rides, costume characters, and shopping, none of which were tops on our list.

Also, MK was so unbelievably crowded!!!!! And hot!!!!! There is no shade there! And people were pushing each other all over the place!

I asked my kids to rank the parks with "OK," "Good," or "Great." With no prompting from me, both of them said that AK and Epcot were great and that MK was OK.

We wouldn't think of skipping MK, favorite park, we always start and finish our trip with this park.

MK is my least favorite of the four WDW parks, but I certainly wouldn't say that I don't care for it.

There are things about MK that I love - the original hub-and-lands design, the home-town sweetness of Main Street, the Colonial feel of Liberty Square. And many of the attractions in MK - Pirates, HM, and Phil - are rank among my faves, not to mention the amazing spectacle of Wishes.

But there are other things about MK that either leave me cold or actually turn me off. MK is always the most crowded park, and many of its attractions are more designed for kids than for adults or families (Aladdin, Dumbo, Carousell). Some attractions, I just don't care for, like Small World and Stitch.

So while MK is my least favorite of the WDW parks, it is still pretty high on my list. It's just a half-day park for me.

Still and all, I'll take a day MK in a heartbeat if it's offered.

Of course we like the history associated with the MK but out of all the parks it is our least favorite. We live next to Cedar Point, and hate the lines for a 90 sec ride. That's the way MK is, mostly amusment park rides. When I go there I think I like strolling Main Street, riding Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion, the unique rides but nothing there that makes you go WOW! Like Expedition Everest, Soarin, Mission, Tower of Terror, RnR, etc. MK has cute and historical rides.

MK is 4th in my book, our book, actually. This doesn't amount to dislike, it's just that when ranking any 4 items, something's going to be 4th. Actually, I consider MK to be 5th as I count Epcot to be 2 separate parks, WS and FW. I suppose this is why we much prefer to stay in an Epcot resort as then we can walk to 3 of 5 WDW parks, FW, WS and MGM.

I have to admit that MK is not my hubby's favorite -- in fact, if it wasn't for breakfast at Crysal Palace, he wouldn't be disappointed if we skipped it. Of course, his first trip to WDW was at the age of 47 and he just feels the MK is too kid-friendly for him. He prefers Epcot over everything else.

Hey! At least I finally got him to go on a trip.

To me -- MK is what it's all about. That first walk down Main Street with the Castle in the distance. It still takes my breath away. It is the Park I prefer to end my vacation with. princess:

My DH doesn't like MK at all. He actually asked if we could skip it this year, psha! He liked splash, space and the haunted mansion but he sure didn't care for it's a small world. Maybe this year he'll like it a little better because I sure like it.

The first time I ever heard someone say they didn't like MK was a couple of years ago when I asked my dh's stepmom where they'd like to go when we go to WDW together. When she said she'd rather skip MK because she really doesn't like that park, I think my face must have looked something like........ :crazy2: I honestly could not imagine it. This said, dh and I have made short trips w/out the kids and have skipped MK, opting to spend a lot of time at Epcot and visiting other resorts but it made me a little sad. Think it would've been even more sad to be there w/out the kids though :guilty:

MK has been my favorite park,
but DD (age 10) and Hubby rank this as #4 on their Disney Park favorite List.

REASON for this: It takes sooooo long to get in and out!!!! (Park, Tram, then monorail or Ferry then wait in the loooonnngg security and finger scan line)

But, in my opinion, my favorite thing about MK is the Castle.

DD's favorite parks:

#1 EPCOT
#2 MGM
#3 Animal Kingdom
#4 Magic Kingdom

I'll admit the Magic Kingdom is not my favorite park. Its actually my least favorite. Its good just not as good as the others. The park seems to need a coat of paint or something to spruce it up. Still, I can't imagine going to WDW and not going to the Magic Kingdom.

So, for some people, it seems, MK is a nostalgic park, a sentimental park - but not much more. :guilty:

I love the MK dearly. It's the first and last park on every trip. :cloud9:

But I can understand why some might not care for it. It is more child-friendly and what kind of park doesn't serve alcohol??? ;)

But it's interesting to hear everyone's opinions on it. It seems many of us take for granted that MK is THE park at WDW - but not everyone would agree. :)

I love MK, not my favorite, but I love it. My wife, on the other hand, is a different story. She's not a Disney nut like I am, and only had limited experience as a kid. She thinks some rides are cool, but that in general she feels as though she's trapped in a giant Twilight Zone meets Romper Room vortex. She would skip it all together, if she could.

I can imagine someone who likes WDW saying that MK is their least favorite park, and I can imagine people not liking MK because they just plain don't like WDW. But I can't imagine anyone who is a WDW fan not liking MK at all. If you like Disney, how can you not like MK?

I absolutely love MK, although Epcot is probably my favorite park. It's hard to choose a favorite since I love them both for very different reasons.

That's an interesting take on it. If you had limited Disney influences as a kid, is it possible you wouldn't be able to relate to MK as well?

My DH also had limited Disney experiences as a kid (dare I say he had NONE?) - he definitely doesn't feel the magic the same way I do, although he does say MK makes him feel like a kid again - but I'm sure not in the same way as those of us who lived and breathed Disney way back when. :goodvibes
