Does anyone NOT care about room views?

Just wondering - Am I the only one who doesn't care about room views? I think that the only place that we've ever specified a room view as in Las Vegas, where DH really wanted to have look at the strip at night as part of the experience. However whenever we've travelled to Florida we've never requested or paid for a pool view or preferred view. It really doesn't matter to me if we're looking over a parking lot as long as it is not the one over the bus parking lot w/tons of noise. Am I the only one? Or am I earning my nickname "Mr.Crabs" (from my family and friends) for my "frugality" (ok cheapness).

I like having a nice view from my room in the event I want to open the drapes after I am dressed. However, I am not willing to pay more for it. I figure I am in Disney - that is good enough for me.

The only time I've ever requested and paid more for the view was when we stayed in a Tower room at CR--then the view of the castle/Wishes at night was soooo worth the $$$! In fact, that's the only way I'd ever stay at CR--Tower with MK view. For me and my family, it is truly magical. :cloud9:
We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a castle view from our room in the Poly recently. We loved the view, but I wouldn't pay for it.

We paid for a waterview room at CSR and it was beautiful, however I wouldn't do it again. While I do care about the resort that we stay in I do not care about the view. For the amount of time that we are in our room it's just not woreth it. We do spend alot of down time at the resort and pool so that does matter to me but the view out of window does not.

That's not to say that if we ever stayed at Poly, CR, of GF and we were upgraded for free, I'd take it and appreciate it.:goodvibes

I don't in a moderate or value, but at a deluxe I do prefer a nice view. especially now that we have kids and we spend a lot of time on that balcony after the kids go to bed.

I don't when we stay in a moderate. Who really opens their drapes and sits on their bed looking out the window while armies of people march past the window looking in at you? :rotfl:

Now, at a deluxe, I absolutely do care - and we pay to guarantee the view we want. Sitting out on the balcony soaking up the atmosphere is a big part of that experience for us. Overlooking the bus parking area or the maintenance service area just really takes away from the experience for us. I should make it clear, though, that we are not of the "you're only in your room to sleep and shower" mindset. We really enjoy the whole resort experience.

Staying deluxe, the view is very important to us. We love to sit on our balcony and look out over the water or watch the castle change colors.

I think it depends how much time you spend in the room.

With just adults or teens, it probably doesn't matter as much, but with little ones, you can end up spending more time in the room.

We just came back from the Poly, and having a MK view made all the difference.

We were able to watch the fireworks and the water parade before bed, have a quiet place for the adults to read outside during naptime, and have the memory of my DD, 3, waking up at night and calling out, "Mama, Mama, Cinderella Castle right there."

In a moderate, I would never pay for the view. I rarely open the drapes when we're there.

However, every time we've stayed in a deluxe, we've spent some time on the balcony and having a nice view it worth it for us.

I don't care about the view at all. I like having a balcony so that we have a place to sit when the kids are asleep or while waiting for everyone to be ready to go. I've never had a good view from it, though, and that's OK.

No you are not alone. I have stayed in value, moderate and deluxe. I could care less. I have no interest what so ever in what the view from my window is. In the mornings, I am just trying to get out of my room in time for opening at the parks and I get home after dark - ready for bed. But to each his own.

I am with you OP. I do not really care what it out my Disney Resort window. When we are at Disney we get up early and get to the parks and don't come back until after the parks are closed. The only thing we use our room for is to sleep and shower.

I never request a room with a view at Disney, we're hardly ever in there anyway.

I don't have to have a nice room view, and have never paid for one. We occassionly get upgraded though, and that's always nice. I don't think I've ever even gotten a parking lot view at Disney. So many of the categories are parking lot/ garden, and we just always ended up with at least a garden.

I generally don't care about a view one way or another, but a balcony is always a must. If it has a nice view then it's an added benefit. Part of my vacation experience is sitting on the balcony having my morning coffee while everyone else is getting ready to go, and in the evening/morning when we get back I have my wine/cocktail before calling it a night. It's my quiet time.

Paying for a water view is no big thrill for us...we're from Maine, we know what water looks like. Similarly, with WL we also know what woods look like, so again, no burning desire to pay to look at what we already have. That being said, if we were staying at the CR or GF I'd so definately be willing to pay for a Castle view.....I guess paying for a view or not just depends on what we will be seeing.

The only view I care about is the view of the castle from Main Street as I enter the Magic Kingdom. That's all it takes to make me happy.

Depending on where I am staying and how much the room rate will be. I am an admitted hotel snob. I love the way a good hotel or resort feels on vacation. And the great thing about Disney is that it does not matter whether you stay at a value or a deluxe. You are always granted a wonderful resort experience. We visited Atlantis in the Bahamas on our last Disney cruise and I remember telling DH that I would be sick if I had to pay 400 or more to stay there. I was just not as impressed as I thought I would be. Don't get me wrong. It was massive and had amazing waterslides but to me a Disney resort beat Atlantis hands down from the theming to the service. I know there are people that will disagree with me over that but that's I how felt. When at Disney, I usually always book a Courtyard View at the WL. I just love the way the Courtyard looks at night. Sometimes we book a Lagoon View at the Polynesian. The last time we decided to go with a Garden View because our trip was getting more and more expensive by the minute!!! When we travel to Europe, we book at a nice hotel (it does not have to be a 4 star -just clean and in safe spot) in a good location but book the cheapest room because we really don't spend anytime at all in it. There is so much to see and do.

I don't care about the view at all.....I'm not in Florida to sit in my room...even if I'm there with kids...we plan on spending as little time in the hotel/room as possible....

-MK view Maybe.
I really enjoyed my MK view when I stayed at the Contemporary.

However, we were not in our room much and did not have much time to really take advantage of the view.

Our home is on a Private All Sports Lake and a private country club and golf course is across the private road on the street side of our home.

So a room with a water view is not as exciting to me as room at a value resort that has the huge Disney icons.

Now that is a view that excites me!
