Does anyone make it on a 7 day cruise with 1 bag?

It is not too hard to keep to one suitcase- I was able to for our 7 night including formalwear. Just make sure that your formalwear is not too poofy- take something that doesn't take up so much room and then I just took a pair of black sandals that I could wear with all the formal outfits- that way you cut back on how many shoes you have to bring. Also, bring things that mix and match and you will never use as much as you think you will so keep it to the minimum and you can always do laundry if you need to- we did not have to. Just my suggestions. Also, if you don't want to dress up for dinners you can always eat up on deck in casual wear- just let your servers know that you won't be there for the following meal. But in the end, its your cruise so do whatever you want to and what fits your family best!!

I was returning w/family from a west coast trip earlier this year. There were 3 adults each checking 2 bags (all the same reservation/passenger record).

Because some bags were 55lbs and some were 45lbs (literally) I to stand there and repack the bags so they were all 50lbs or less. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!! Mind you the same 600lbs of luggage goes on that plane be it in 1 bag or 6. I was NOT a happy camper.

So I try to travel with one full bag and one empty bag so I have room to rearrange if need be.

I find that if you check-in with a sky cap (outside/at the curb) they don't seem to weigh your luggage there. Only inside.

Do they weigh your luggage if you check-in your luggage at the port with your airline?

We are flying ATA and they say there is a 70 lb. limit per bag. We are more concerned about the 'inches' they list for the bag size. It says that the width/height/depth can not be more than 62 inches. Ours may be more like 64 inches if you count that 'puffy' front pockets.

Do they really stand there in measure your bages to the inches?
We weighed our bags (did a test pack), so I think we are fine with the weight. We are going to use our luggage and see what happens. If they give us problems and fine us, I told DH I don't want to fly again. We can drive to Florida in 18 hours, and I am fine with that if I don't have to hassle with luggage.

7 Days with 1 bag! Including formal wear. Sure - as has been said before here - just cut down on the number of pairs of shoes!

Also just remember that you are going to a warm tropical climate and that you are on a cruise ship! That means you will be spending a majority of your day in your bathing suit. So you don't need as many other changes of clothes as you think you do!

Have a WONDERFUL trip - and remember to leave some empty space in your 1 suitcase for all the wonderful things you will buy on your trip.
