I have to go for Jury Duty on jan 3rd. I'd much rather go to work. I have to be there at 8am and i hardly ever get to sleep before 4 or 5 am. I get home from work at 2 am (good thing i don't work tomorrow). This means i have to be up at 5:45 leave my house at 6:30 to get there & get a parking spot by 7:30. Close by parking is very limited and it said on the recording not everyone will get to park in the close parking structure. :(

They never let me on a case, and I so bad want to find someone guilty

I have been called for a federal case and was dismissed. I was then summoned for a county jury three times-the first time I had non refundable vacation reservations and was excused, the second time I was just starting college classes and was excused. The third letter I received said no excuses accepted  .

I was placed on 3 different cases that summer. I didn't "like it" because it does really interfere with kids, work, college, etc, but I will have to say I learned SO much about how the court system works....or doesn't work!

I have to go on the 13th - I don't dislike it - I do think it is interesting, but yeah, it can mess up your schedule. Just part of our civic duty though!

I usually get dismissed early on, though.

You can go in my place Pop Daddy. Just tell them that you are me, a 50 yr old grandmother. :rotfl2:

I liked it... It was an interesting process and it broke the monotony of my predictable work day. I truly enjoyed the day, and I got pretty far into the process although I was not selected even though I wanted to be. Let me tell you, it seemed very difficult TO be selected.

I would take jury duty any day of the week over working; Just a change of pace I guess, and I don't have to work with clients and strict deadlines!

ya know where I could get a good deal on a big skirt

I was on grand jury duty this past fall and loved it. It was every other Thursday from Aug. thru Dec. It was like a mini vacation every other week.

I've been on two different juries. I found the experience to be very interesting. I was amazed at just how poor the lawyers were on both sides in both cases.

One case involved a dispute between two family members that resulted in a stabbing. One of the men was pealing an apple for his daughter when his BIL barged in and basically attacked him. He was hitting the guy and his MIL was beating on the guy with a board. During the scuffle, the BIL was stabbed in the lower chest. It punctured a lung. He did recover.

When we began to deliberate, everyone on the jury except for me wanted to convict the guy. I just wasn't convinced. We asked for the hospital records. The stab wound was only one inch deep. The knife used was a paring knife. After thinking about it, I suggested that it was an accident. If someone really wanted to stab someone, they would put some force into it and it probably would have come from another angle. I felt like the BIL just ran into the knife during the fight. The defense attorney had not suggested anything like this. I managed to convince the rest of the jury panel and we found him not guilty. I felt like Henry Fonda in Twelve Angry Men!

I just thought the lawyers did a bad job. I know that if I am ever on trial for anything, I will hire the best attorney that money can buy. I really think a jury will go the way of the strongest person on the jury panel. I had very little trouble talking the rest of the panel members into following my lead. Kind of scary!

Its not that I like it or dont like it.......I do it because thats what Im supposed to do. And everytime, but one, I have been picked to be on a jury. I had to call in friday night, and now I have to call back on tuesday to see if I need to come to the court house or not. I dont mind having jury duty to be honest. What I do mind is having my time wasted for silly things and those who dont take it serious.

Wow. Sounds like a family i know and stay away from. The one daughter is bi-polar and causes alot of trouble for everyone. She has been known to go after family members and others with knives. Good detective work on your part. :)

I watched various portions of a murder trial this summer. On that jury, all but one wanted to vote not guilty, but there was one hold out who thought he was guilty.

No.

It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to sit down all day waiting for nothing.

I hate it! I can't stand all the sitting around and I would much prefer to be at work. Back when I worked nights it really stunk becuase I would get off work at 6am and then have to go to Jury duty that same morning at 9am and they would wonder why I kept falling asleep there...what the heck do they expect??
