When they put up the Christmas decs at DL? We just got back and I am already thinking about our next trip LOL.

We are going to DW this Oct/Nov so have no plans to return to DL till fall of 06. Would like to go when we can see the HMH AND IASMH.

My kids and I have been during the holidays and last year were there right around veteran's day and they had the x-mas stuff.

Was thinking about going the first week of Nov next year and wondered if they would have the x-mas stuff by then. My hubby has never seen it at that time of year.

Thanks in advance for any info.

P.S. Has anyone taken a shuttle from DLR to Universal for the day? We are thinking about doing that also and wondered how that went for anyone who has done it. Is 7 hours enough time in the park? Thanks.

I asked the same question recently and the answer someone posted was that the decorations go up after the first weekend in Nov. So... I would guess that by Nov 11th (Veteran's Day) that they should be up. We are always there the week before Thanksgiving, and will be trying one week earlier this year (hopefully we will see Christmas decor). :)

Thanks. Hey do you know is veterans one of those days that they move to the following monday? Cuz it is on a weekend next year. I kind of wanted to go the first week of Nov but not sure if decs will be up. If we go the 2nd week we could run into veteran's day crowds. If anyone knows that would be great. Thanks.

Good question! This year the "time off" is on the actual date (Friday). I think last year is was celebrated on the actual date (Thursday) as well. I never really considered what the "official time off schedulers" would do if the real holiday fell on a weekend. I know years when Christmas and New Years fall on a weekend that it has never meant extra time off, but who knows what they will do with Veteran's day. I know that this Veteran's Day I will be in DL, and on Veteran's Day next year I will be boarding the Magic. I guess our family has found their own special way to honor our Veterans! :goodvibes

Hey Elk Grove you are real close to me!! Yeah we were there on Veteran's this past nov and you are right it was on a Thursday and then my daughter's school was closed on Friday so I would like to avoid that nightmare again. It was REALLY crowded.

I have a feeling if they give people a day off it will probably be the following Monday but maybe we will get lucky and they will do the Friday before. If so then I can go that Sunday.

I know it is a LONG way away but you can never plan too early LOL. I can't even look at my kids school schedule cuz it will only go to June of 06 LOL.

Oh well I guess I will just wait till the 06 calendar comes out. :)

We were in Disneyland last November 4th-8th and the decorations were up. The Haunted Mansion was decorated and open. We also got "snowed" on! ;)

The holiday parade hadn't started yet...I think that it starts around Thanksgiving. I think the hours were 9:00 to 10:00 or so... DCA was open from 10:00-8:00.

It's a great time to go. The weather was fine--low 70's and no rain. We didn't have huge crowds either.

Have fun!

I'm hoping for the best of both realities. We're hoping to see the 50th fireworks and the new 50th parade, yet still see holiday decorations. :cheer2: It may just be a dream, but that's what DL is all about right?! :wizard:

oh you are going to LOVE the 50th fireworks. They are THE best I have ever seen. Brings a tear to your eyes. Make sure you alott enough time to be near the castle as they project stuff on it. Also you want to be able to see tinkerbell fly down from the matterhorn. We were on the matterhorn side aways back from the partners statue and although the seats weren't great it wasn't too bad either.

We only watched the fireworks once but I really wish I could have seen them more than once.

I think you should definitely get the best of all worlds.

Just make sure you don't get so busy you forget stuff like I did. I wanted pictures with all the gold vehicles but only got 2. We did see the film on main street and that is a must see!!!

Also I wanted to get some pics of the mosaics but didn't get any of those either :(

I even submitted some pics and had pics taken of us by the park in Nov and they didn't use ANY of them. GRRR.

Oh well. It was a great trip and although I am STILL dead I wish it hadn't ended so quick!!

Oh yeah by the way how did you like the cruise? I would have loved to do one of the repositioning ones. We would like to maybe do a florida one but it is SO expensive.

What did you think? Was it worth it?

In 2001, I arrived at DL on Halloween afternoon. We drove past the Christmas tree, sitting on a back lot, on our way to the hotel. The next day, Nov. 1, we went to DL and the tree was up and Christmas carols were playing. It was actually kind of freaky... I was on a business trip and it made me homesick. If my family had been there, I probably would have found it neat.

They used 3 of the 20 photos I submitted, but they renamed them so I have no idea which ones they are. I guess I will go to the kiosk and get the print out so that I can find them.

I went to the kiosk but they did not have anything under my e-mail or name. I submitted like 8 or 9 online and they took several of us in the park last november and had us fill out releases etc. I can't believe they didn't even use one of them. Oh well.

I got an e-mail from DL in May telling me the generic "thanks, and these are the 3 we have used." Of course... with different names... who really knows which ones they used? I'm just excited to be a part of it!

I just realized I forgot to answer your question. YES :cool1: The cruise was fantastic! Our first cruise ever and DCL was the greatest! Yes, the Mexico cruise was much more expensive than the ones out of Florida but we saved time and money by not having to fly to Florida (and of course go to WDW). So... I guess we broke even. We met a group of DIS folks through a thread on this site and we are still chatting with each other a month after the cruise.

If you ever decide to try DCL, go for 7 nights! There are some weeks that are cheaper than others, and there are ways a family of 5 can go a lot cheaper than you would think (we are a family with 3 boys). We rebooked for 11/11/06 and were able to get 2 connecting cabins for less than what we paid for 1 cabin the same Cat. on this cruise. PM me if you want more details. It was a great cruise! Well worth every peso! :cheer2:

Thanks for the info. I am seriously considering that for our "next" trip to DW whenever that might be. After this trip in Oct we have a trip to the east coast (upstate, New York and New England) planned for 07 and a trip to Europe planned for 08. (no real trips planned for 06 other than a short jaunt down to DL cuz we need to save our dinero for these other whoppers) Then in 09 hubby and I are renewing our vows on our 10th anniversary so we have a 2nd honeymoon planned. Maybe we will do a disney cruise for that. But if not it would have to be like 10 or later cuz these other trips are going to be EXPENSIVE! LOL.

Someday I DO want to do it though!!
