Does anyone know?

I've always assumed that regular lotion has a really long shelf life (I've used lotion that is years old and it was OK).

:confused3

But if you're talking about sunscreen, they say you should replace that every year because the SPF protection declines with age.

Ditto. I won't tell you exactly how long one bottle of lotion in my cabinet is that I break out when I don't have anything else. Suffice to say it has survived 3 moves in 10 years. It doesn't smell that great, but I hate to throw it away and it has never seperated or gotten 'gloppy' or whatever you call it. Still good!

It will depend greatly on how natural the lotion is: The more natural it is, the shorter period of time it will last on the shelf. The more artificial it is, the more chemical preservatives and such that are within the product, the longer it could last.

As others have pointed out, sunscreen is a different story. That which provides SPF protection has a limited shelf-life, typically less than one year.

I think this is a marketing scheme because we have sunscreen we bought for our 2004 WDW trip that works just fine today. DH burns in about 5 minutes in the sun and uses it just fine.

From Googling it the general consensus was 3yrs., however if you notice a change in smell, color, consistency before then to throw it out.

All the lotion I have is from bath and body works. I only buy them when there on sale and were talkin, really great sale, to good to pass up. so, I kind of go a little crazy:crazy: I think it's a sickness really:rolleyes: :rotfl: So, needless to say, I have a mini bath and body works shop going on in my bedroom. It's time to get rid of some stuff.:headache: even though I don't want to.
